We have used Ludus for a few years now--they are great! Very responsive if you have questions especially when setting it up for the first time. We scan people in at the door - no need for you to print paper tickets. (If they purchase a ticket at the door, we write their seat numbers on a mock ticket ...

We have been using Ludus for our last 6 shows and couldn't be happier! They are really easy to work with and you can access your money in one lump sum at the end of your production or day by day. They are very responsive to questions. The platform was developed by a former drama teacher and it's clear ...

I typically teach Greek Theater when looking into where we get some of our modern theater ideas. I'm looking to change & adapt that curriculum to include BiPOC history as well. What have you added or changed in your curriculum instead of or in addition to Greek Theater? Thank you in advance for your ...

I'd like to recommend Matt Kizer's website--specifically this link where you can purchase a deck of playing cards that simulate a production meeting. "With PRODUCTION BEATING, students role-play a production meeting. Assign the jobs – director, set designer, lighting designer, costume designer, stage ...

One of my prop masters several years ago created a newspaper in photoshop (I think). They added a texture & color to the background so that when it was printed it looked like newspaper. I was so excited that I still have the newspaper (from My Favorite Year) Hope that helps Cindy ------------------------------ ...

Fall Play: Maskerade by Stephen Briggs--based on the book by Terry Pratchett If you've read any of Terry Pratchett's books, you're probably a fan. I've also done his Wyrd Sisters. One of the benefits of this play is there are 26 characters. I will double cast some of them, but I will be able to have ...

Great thread idea James! We are doing Disaster for our spring musical--because there are a lot of roles for girls and guys - everyone is featured. (In fact, on Stage Agent every role is listed as "supporting".) AND I can add in ensemble members. (We did Into the Woods this past spring - I wanted to ...

The drama teachers in my district are looking for BiPOC scenes and plays to bring to our classes for next year. We already read Fences, but we'd like to bring more BiPOC authors and resources into our classrooms. We are fortunate to have some paid time - supported by our district - to read and find plays ...

When our district was remodeling the theaters we (theater teachers) asked for them to provide an alternative stage for us to perform. Sometimes we used other theaters in the district, but we also used a middle school theater (that was really nice and had recently been redone) and a community college ...

Such a fun show! Yes--girls can play male characters. In the original off-broadway production, the actress who played Susie Bones also played Harry Potter. I had girls play J Finch, Ernie Mac, Cedric & Mr. Voldy. I tried to do it before the world shut down-- we had a cast of 15. We were able to produce ...

Hi folks The drama teachers in my district and I are desperately wanting to have our students perform LIVE this year.  We can't get a clear answer or direction from our County as to what that would look like with COVID protocols and the uncertainty of the Delta variant.  I just found out that the athletics ...

I have had a similar experience to many of you:  only able to go in a specified times for a specified amount of time.  Then, all of a sudden, in May I got an order to take down the set so they could prepare the theater for large group instruction--and if I didn't, then the custodial staff would.  What??  ...

We used black puff paint for the leading.  Once that was dry we colored clear Elmer's glue with food coloring and painted the insides. ------------------------------ Cindy Skelton Drama Teacher San Mateo Union High School District Burlingame CA ------------------------------

I've done this a few times with my own school.  I'll try and attach a word doc here with my timeline.  It's a lot of fun! Caveat:  I give students the theme/stimulus on Friday afternoon and the writing teams go home and write.  This way I get to have a good night's sleep ;) ------------------------------ ...

Radium Girls or Letters to Sala. Both are relatively new plays, cast of a lot of girls.  Great dramaturgy opportunities.  Powerful messages in both instances. ------------------------------ Cindy Skelton Drama Teacher San Mateo Union High School District Burlingame CA ---------------------- ...
