    Hi, all,

I’m wondering if anyone has a brilliant idea of making a cheap method of creating a front page of a newspaper that says whatever we want it to say.

    Thanks.

Type it on a computer, using the font you want. Print. Large paper works best. If it needs to look old you can dye the paper using weak tea. An old practice that I used to use to do a newspaper project in English class. If you just need a headline, the rest of the paper needn't have real articles. Just enough typed letters to make it look right.

I agree, create it on a computer then have it printed on a plotter then distress as necessary, I have used publisher in the past to use a photo of the layout I want, then I overlay pictures and text boxes  to change to what I want.

We have used Canva.com to create our own and then print it and wrap around a real newspaper.

    Good luck!

One of my prop masters several years ago created a newspaper in photoshop (I think). They added a texture & color to the background so that when it was printed it looked like newspaper.
I was so excited that I still have the newspaper (from My Favorite Year)

    Hope that helps

If your school still publishes a print newspaper, the journalism staff should be able to use their front page template to drop in your newspaper's name/logo, headlines, photos, and dummy text. They (or another department) may even have a large format printer for proofing.

Stealing Cindy Skelton's advice: if they're adept, they can put all that on top of a background image of some very light gray texturing, so the printout isn't glaringly white.

Years ago I made a full-size front and back page of an 1800s London Times on a desktop publishing program. Started with doing some online research to see what they really looked like at the time. I added a few article headers, but the bulk of the writing came from an online "greeking engine," which generates filler text used for designing print layouts. There are several; here's one:

The paper itself was printed on large sheets of newsprint we bought at a paper supply house and then trimmed to size.

Unfortunately, I don't have files or photos anymore.
