It sounds like you are building a dynamic theatre program! Kudos to you! You've chosen three strong shows to start with and I hope you stick with a yearly Shakespeare play. Putnam County Spelling Bee would be a musical to consider-small cast, simple choreography, unit set. Consider using the gym. Great ...

I would also recommend Silent Sky by Lauren Gunderson. A great two-person scene between Henrietta and Peter. ------------------------------ Kent Burnham Director of Theatre Arts Frederick Gunn School Washington, CT 06793 ------------------------------

As many know, this year marks the 25th anniversary of the killing of Matthew Shepard. I'm interested in hosting a staged reading of the Laramie Project at school and wondering if there is an abridged or competition version of the play. Does Tectonic Theatre Company allow an abridged version to be produced, ...

Yes, the Kate Hamill plays are active, fresh, funny, gender bending, and a great tie into literature. You can expand casting too. She has a strong take on these stories, with female empowerment at that heart of them all.I saw Sense and Sensibility(the production in the video that was shared) and it was ...

I highly recommend it to other theatre-makers.Dance Nation is really good, but the language could be an issue. Or, not.Others to consider:-The Wolves-Failure: A Love Story-Pride and Prejudice, ...

Hi there, Is it possible to be involved in this Designer program? When would you be meeting, via Zoom? I have about 10 young student designers who are ambitious and talented and it would be fantastic to have them involved in the project. Please let me know more details. Thank you.

For the Fall we are doing Men on Boats and our Winter musical will be either Head Over Heels or Urinetown. In the Spring we will do A Midsummer Night's Dream and also produce the 24 Hour Plays. Planning on producing a staged reading of the #Enough Plays too. A busy and exciting year for us.

I and You by Lauren Gunderson is fantastic. My Acting class was so into reading the play and then we explored scene work. A highlight of the school year. It might not be labeled a comedy, but certainly many comedic moments in the play. An incredibly profound and moving play that will have the class talking ...

I have the full company read through the play with everyone involved. Sit in a circle, cast and crew, and read around the circle. I start with the opening line and the person to my right has the next line, then the next person takes the next line and so on. Everyone is reading through the play, so everyone ...
