Hi Wendy, I recommend reaching out to Dan @ On Cue Costumes in Montclair. He'll have what you need, and he's much more reasonably priced than the larger rental houses in the area (The Costumer, Norcostco). Our gender netural production of 1776 was COVID canceled last March on opening night. We had men as Adams, Jefferson, Dickinson, RH Lee, and a couple of the minor characters, but women in all other roles. The kids loved it!  There was a need to rearrange some of the vocals, but it was pretty easy to ...

My most important organization tool is a Shared Google Drive. All "paperwork", forms, and other items needed to track every part of our process is done through Google Forms, Spreadsheets, etc. And I can archive all of it once a show is over, and still access it later if needed. We use SignUpGenius for ...

You are doing everything right! Using rubrics, having a casting panel-- these are the necessary things that we use to make our subjective art form objective. I would question why they are allowed to bring an attorney to a parent/teacher meeting-- can't your principal refuse to allow that? And, if you ...

Did it in 2008- loved it, can't wait to do it again someday. Took the cast & crew to MoMA for research- every cast member found their character within an hour- and the crew based our 'museum' off details we found @ an exhibit. Get the art teachers to help create some of the art. Have fun with it! ...

Take a look at LETTERS TO SALA- beautiful story, meets your casting requirements (almost exactly!), lots of opportunity for movement work. I've worked on several titles on your list- this falls in line with most of them. ------------------------------ Tom Lupfer Pascack Valley HS Hillsdale, NJ ...

I can't recommend LETTERS TO SALA by Arlene Hutton highly enough. It's a beautifully written, moving story about little known part of the history of the Holocaust. Next to THE LARAMIE PROJECT, it was the most powerful drama I've been lucky enough to direct thus far. Especially great if you, like me, ...

Every time! I've never shared it with the students for feedback (though that's a good idea). Our production team uses it to review-- particularly if we can't recall something based on our notes. We make it clear to the kids that it is for "internal use only"-- not something that we'll share widely. ...
