  • 1.  Costumes for Addams Family

    Hi everyone, 

    I am directing a production of "The Addams Family" this spring with 19 excited students and I am also the costumer. I am looking for costume shop suggestions for North New Jersey - Bergen County. I don't have a big budget, so I am may just be looking for key pieces that we cannot create on our own. Also if there is a school that has costumes for rent/barter in the area - I would love to see if this is something we could arrange! Show dates are March 24th and 25th.

    I recommend reaching out to Dan @ On Cue Costumes in Montclair. He'll have what you need, and he's much more reasonably priced than the larger rental houses in the area (The Costumer, Norcostco)​.

    Hi there!

    We did Addams last year - and created all of the costumes ourselves.  We are located in south central PA, and could certainly talk about how to rent them to you.  We had around 20 ancestors, I think.  I'd have to talk to the other staff to see about costs, but I'm sure that we could continue the conversation to come up with a fair number, if this interests you.

    Here's a whole cast photo (I had it on my phone, not my computer).  This shows a better view of all of the different ancestor costumes/wigs.

    We had lots of different skin tones for ancestors and didn't want to do all that makeup - so they are all wearing a spandex suit that covers them from neck to toe (and hands).   We created/purchased every single costume.    But I think this photo will serve your needs better to see what they actually ALL looked like on stage. 

    We're located in Lancaster, PA... not sure where in NJ you are located, but I know that it's a little over 2 hours drive for me to get to the Metropark exit when I want to park/ride into NYC. ;-)
