Ahh . . . I think the issue is the cast size of 25 - 35 students. The only 15 -20 minute production I've done with a cast that large for elementary grades has been "Cake for the Queen." For a one act for 9th graders, I'd consider "Cake for the Queen" which is published by YouthPLAYS. It deals with people not appearing to be what they seem as well as transformation.
