Is anyone else having difficulty licensing "The Prom" from TRW? Back in September, I requested a license for a May production. The only response I have been able to get is that it's pending and that it's out of TRW's hands. Anyone else having trouble getting a response , a yes or no would be nice? At ...

Just closed a wonderful run of Curtains (High School Edition), but on the closing performance most of the male ensemble decided to alter lyrics without my (the director) permission. I guess they thought it was funny. I found it disrespectful, unprofessional, and a violation of our licensing agreement.  ...

I have used both , so here is my assessment: ROCS  PROs- Excellent customer service Usually the less expensive of the two Their show ready rehearsal software lets you make changes to tempo, key, vamps, etc. right there in the rehearsal room. These changes can be applied to your performance tracks. ...

It depends on what you are controlling, but I agree you can't go wrong with ETC. They have a variety of choices from the Nomad, which you can use to turn your computer into a light board, the Element, which I think is a great board for students, or the Ion which makes life easy if you use a lot of moving ...

I have used both and for me it depends on the show. MT Pit usually has a better sound, so if the orchestration has a lot of strings, etc I would choose MT Pit. But I agree ROCS software is much more flexible to use and often I have found ROCS to cost a little less, so for more rock or contemporary shows ...

I think there are many ways to do the blood packet guy. We put him in a red tshirt that said "Blood Packet Guy". Yes, we used cheap red streamers from the dollar store though we didn't attach them. Our guy would run in and just wrap some streamer around his victim and run off. You can also use the character ...

In our production last spring, the ancestors carried branches from some artificial Christmas trees. It worked very well and cost us nothing since we were able to borrow the trees. ------------------------------ Sean Blauvelt Arroyo Grande CA ------------------------------ ----------------- ...

When we did Pippin three years ago we just used a stuffed animal. I believe we found one at a pet store that looked fairly real (it was a dog toy). Though I really like the puppet idea suggested here. Whatever you do, how the actor interacts with the duck will be what matters to the audience. Call me ...

I have used them twice now and have been very pleased. Yes, the "rehearsal track" recording can be a bit tedious and there are times I long for the flexibility of Qlab instead of their playback system. But their sound quality is superb, the playback system has worked perfectly during performances, and ...

Why do I rent backdrops? Well, there are many factors. Do I have a desire to control everything? Like most directors, yes I do. After 20 years of doing non-educational theatre, I strive to put together the most professional production I can. I am a firm believer in setting high expectations. If we as ...

Dave, Thank you for your informative post. You mention your FillHarmonic product, is this currently available specifically for Addams Family? Also for both the ShowReady and StageTracks products, is a live Internet connection required while using them or can you download the material and then use it ...

We are doing a production of Addams Family this coming May and might be using recorded music tracks instead of a live orchestra. I have a choice between using Right On Cue Services (ROCS) or the MT pit. I have use MT pit before and while the "rehearsal track" voice you hear every 45 seconds on their ...

Yes, since a real switchblade is illegal in most states and dangerous, we also used the combs. We cut the tip of the comb to a point, filled in between the teeth with bondo ( found at your auto store) and then covered the blade with silver leaf. We even painted the black plastic handle to look more like ...
