Thank you so much for such a thoughtful answer. Your points are well-taken. I know we all walk through this same minefield as we choose shows--so many of the classics haven't aged well, and it's exhausting to constantly have to second guess what might happen if we do a show as opposed to what the kids ...

how about this idea? just talked to our tech director... he suggested going time period and just using a washtub, broom handle, and string. it fits in the rest of the show, like when during "I Got Rhythm" the trio uses a saw, plunger, and air pump. just a thought! Break a leg! ---------- ...

Why is this even an issue? If you stage something you didn't write, pay up! Would you walk into a retail store and take a pair of jeans you didn't sew? Or not pay for a meal at a restaurant you didn't cook? What's the difference? If this is an issue, take Mr. Zolidis' advice and stage things ...

How practical is it to create a single backdrop, much less a lot of them needed for some shows? Have you priced how much a gallon of theatrical paint costs? Muslin? Do you have an industrial ...
