Hello Fellow Educators!  Many of us have purchased James Thomas Bailey's fabulous book on improv.  I am implementing it my classroom and would like to form a group (with James's blessing) to discuss and support those of use the book.  Let me know if you would like to join.  I plan to use Facebook for the group but I am willing to consider a different forum.

I would be interested in joining a FB group with other instructors who use this text. I've been using it once a week to supplement my regular TA curriculum. My students love it. Let us know if/when a group launches.

Would anyone want to have a group zoom and divide some of the warm-ups, games and activities up to try them out together before we try with students?

PLEASE add me. I've taught an improv based Theatre 1 curriculum for years but the book provided the missing pieces.

Just wondering,: my class is small because the freshman class is small. I have 12 students out of the 37 in the freshman class (there's only 300 in our 7-12 independent school). I'm covering more than one lesson a day. Anyone else having the same experience?

Also wondering if anyone is doing this with middle school. I'm considering doing this with the 7th grade next year and covering Boleslavsky with the 9th (right now it's backwards).

First, anyone who wants to join the FB group, please send me the email you use for FB.

Second, regarding using the book for middle school,  I teach middle school, mostly 6th graders who did not choose Theater Arts but were assigned the class. I have been using it since the second day of school this year and I'm up to Lesson 23. In general it has been hugely successful. I have had to make adjustments for the age and abilities of my students, of course, and I kept a few of my old "Intro to theater" lessons. For example, last week my students presented their first memorized work, a poem. We are doing theater vocab this week and next week they will be assigned their first scene, a simple 2-person, 1-page script.
