  • 1.  10-15 minute High School Appropriate Gothic Horror or Radio Drama - Struggling to Find!

I am an educator in Washington state and I am struggling to find a 10-15 minute appropriate horror/radio drama for one of my directing students. He is searching high and low, but we just haven't landed on the right script for high school and one that meets the length requirement. He would like to focus on foley sound, so he is hoping to find a play that supports that on stage, but also has a strong sense of suspense and/or uneasiness. The length is very important. This play will be featured in our short Student One-Act Festival. Thanks for any suggestions! This is very tricky!

You may want to check out "The Edgar Allan Poe Afterlife Radio Show" (https://www.playscripts.com/play/4783) it's a full-length, but I'm pretty sure the authors would be open to a cutting, and because it's written with different segments, it would be relatively easy to cut.

You may want to try looking at "Vintage Hitchcock: A Live Radio Play" by Joe Landry. This show too is written as a full length but contains three separate Hitchcock stories in it so you may be able to get permission to cut the script to just one story. I did the complete show with foley and it worked really well.

    Gook luck in your search.

I perform regularly with the LA SAG-AFTRA radio players. We recommend Simply Scripts for royalty free scripts. If you would like samples of our recordings, such as WAR OF THE WORLDS, GUNSMOKE, LIFE OF RILEY, etc. reply to this email (reply to sender) and I will share some links with you which your student/s can listen to and watch. --
