I saw there were no comments on this. That's unfortunate. I have always had the policy that anyone who did not see the show through to closing for reasons other than health and family emergencies, does not get to count the show in their points. They may have points for other things but not this. I too ...

I have a wheelchair bound student with Cerebral Palsy in my advanced acting class. I am told all cognitive reasoning is present, but she really struggles with verbal communication. I have no doubt that this will work out and that she will have a great experience in the class. I am also confident in my ...

I am very interested in this as well. I found the book on Amazon, but it is $122.00. Is there a more affordable way to get the book. I'm not sure my building will approve this for just one copy of the book. ------------------------------ Scott Hasbrouck George Washington HS Denver, CO ------- ...

As an IB theatre teacher, there are two resources you need to be aware of. One is the forum in the IB website. Question like this usually get a response from an expert or another teacher in about a day.  We also have a Facebook group for IB theatre teachers. Actually there are several but only one in ...

Thanks all for your help. I shared your insight with my students and we are somewhere in Nebraska on I-80 on our way to the festival.  Your suggestions and tips were well received. See you there. ------------------------------ Scott Hasbrouck George Washington HS Denver, CO ----------------- ...

Although I have been participating in state conference for many years, this is my first year going to Nebraska. I have 7 students with me, 3 are doing IEs and 3 are doing college auditions. We are sharing a bus with another school (Thanks DSA!). However I have found much of the process quite confusing. ...

Can you tell me more about the program at Regent? I am trying to get in to a Master's program. I live in Colorado, and have twice been denied admittance into the Masters in Theatre Education at UNC.  It is extremely sought after and hard to get in to. Since I will be bound to out-of-state tuition, I ...

I teach in a very diverse school. Nearly 30% each Black, latinX, and white (nearly half the whites are Jewish) and a growing Middle-Eastern population and a decent percentage of Asian students as well. That said, I avoid play that are about race. It dictates the casting. Hairspray, fences, etc. great ...

As I recall, Bang Bang You're Dead has a short run time. Has anyone ever paired it with something to have a full evening performance? Another 45 minute show centered on shootings? ------------------------------ Scott Hasbrouck George Washington HS Denver, CO ------------------------------

In loking for works to do with my intro classes, I found a number of one-acts that fit this requirement, depending on your audience. I really Liked Hoodie from Theatrefolk.  definitely for a middle school type audience, but lots of room to play with an ensemble. I liked Box and Anonymous for the same ...

1. How many preps do you have each day? 7. Intro has two sections. Advanced acting Honors, regular advanced acting, and directing are combined in a class. IB 1&2 are combined. Stagecraft is its own section. Most of this (with exception of IB) is my own curriculum and by my design. 2. Do you teach both ...

Meaning an adaptation of the 1985(?) film? That play is not published. Supposedly some publisher has the rights but hasn’t done anything with it. However, the authors of the screenplay used to be reachable through their agent and permission could be acquired this way. I don’t have any contact information, ...

I actually had a home made wood menorah that the actor playing VanDaan made. And actually two of them, one unfinished so he could be working on it in an earlier scene. I used real candles. Same with the Sabbath scene in Fiddler. Anything else is disrespectful to the religious ceremony being portrayed. ...

Would I need to already be CTE certified to pursue NBCT in CTE? Having CTE for theatre classes is a new thing in Denver. Not many people know the ins and outs for this however a group of us are pursuing it together this year. Scott Hasbrouck George Washington HS Denver, CO

I'm not sure licensing is required for every selection in a variety show unless it is being televised. When out choirs and instrumental groups buy their sheet music are they also buying performance rights, or just the music? I honestly don't know, but I bet someone here does. It may just be necessary ...

Thanks for the idea. I will now be using this as a prompt in my IB Theatre class as well. I also believe both. The best entertainment should educate. But if I have to choose one, entertainment first. People have to WANT to see our work before they can be educated by it. I have to get them in the door. ...
