I am planning on doing a junior musical this year due to time constraints. If you have done one before, how long do you get to rehearse, and when do the materials come in? The contract I received had no information on this. I know for full musicals you can purchase more time and they send the materials ...

If I was in your shoes, I would explain to him what you just said to us.  You cast him based on vocal ability and height, which is pretty important to this show.  I would probably talk to the parents as well.  If he is not interested in the role, cast someone else.  I would not force a subject like that ...

Has anyone used the Performance tracks with Into the Woods? I am looking at this musical, and the music is difficult. The only option I have is to use the tracks. I'd like to know what someone with specific experience with this show thinks. I have the singers, I just need to know that performance tracks ...

In reference to Godspell... how did you expand the cast to 45???? The music in that show is wonderful, but the cast is small for our school. ------------------------------ Sara Giambalvo Herculaneum MO ------------------------------

We did Charlie Brown, and The Adams Family in the past. They went REALLY well.   We have $3000 between the musical and the play.  The issue is that we always do the play first and we do not make much off of it.  That is a good idea though to ask for more money on the ticket price.  I am also looking ...

I know this is posted constantly, but I thought maybe I could get some new ideas. I have been the musical director at my school for 2 years now and ran successful runs of "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown" and "The Addams Family: School Edition". Any suggestions on where to go from here? I have a small ...

I don't necessarily mean changing the gender, I mean just making a girl play a male role.  I do not feel like that would be something I need permission for... The issue with the junior show is that it adds even more roles.  It goes from 18 to 21.  I do not necessarily want to cut it to an hour like ...

I am at a small-ish school and I am trying to figure out which musical to do for Spring.I really have my heart set on Into the Woods. The kids love it, there is no dancing(I am a choir teacher), and I feel the set and costumes would be relatively easy to figure out. Can anyone shed light on these issues: ...

Your situation sounds eerily similar to mine... I am going in to my 4th year teaching, this will be my second at my new school. We have quite a few females turn out for auditions, but not many males. We did You're a Good Man Charlie Brown last year, with great success, but it did not come without ...
