Hi Amy, Have you ever considered Once in a Lifetime? It's on my bucket list but I've been waiting for enough boys. Check it out: https://www.concordtheatricals.com/p/2916/once-in-a-lifetime ------------------------------ Chuck Yarmey Advisor/Technical Director Wyoming Area Drama Club Thespian ...

I tried to find an answer by search but couldn't come up with what I'm looking for. I, along with I'm sure many of you, have had a rough past year with students performing their expected duties. But board members, and regular participants in shows. We are coming up on "nominations of officers" ...

I'm just looking for some feedback on what some of you do when your troupe has an STO. Do you allow them to run for an elected board position such as President? I'm thinking they are already an officer and they can sit on our student board as an STO. I think the elected board positions ...

We continue a tradition that was started long before I got there. After the Sunday show we keep everyone on stage after the final bow. We recognize each senior beginning with the newest member working our way to the longest active members. We mention how long they have been involved in the organization, ...

This may seem like a strange one but I thought I'd take a chance. Like many other schools, our auditorium is one of the "ignored" areas when it comes to being taken care of and updated. That being said, the seats are 35 years old and are a mess. The only way anything is going to happen is if ...

I echo everyone's recommendation of drywall stilts. But I have 2 points to make. Not everyone can use them. I've seen people who are snowboarders and skaters not have the balance to walk on stilts. So it's hit and miss. But the best advice when using them is to take small steps. People ...

We pay for the "bling" for our students each year. It can get pricey. We provide honors based on GPA's (the guidelines are in the descriptions of the items) and we also acknowledge honors based on hours. So our Seniors who started in 7th grade and participated in every show would have the higher honors. ...

We put on Clue this past fall. It was our best selling fall show yet. Broadway Licensing provides you with a lot of extra stuff in the way of digital marketing materials and suggestions for the show. You receive a piano book of music for the show. We used a live pianist. That is all you need. ...

Somewhat similar to what Mary listed. But I did realize early on, unless we really want to go for the "gore", it was okay if everything didn't look perfectly realistic. We did purchase a few of the dummy mannequins from Amazon. One for the Cop when his head falls off, and one for the body dropping ...

Sorry to take up space with this question I should know this but I need a definitive answer. For performance Senior Scholarship Auditions, does slating count as part of the 2 minute time limit? I noticed slating isn't on the Rubric. I have a student editing her music for her performance and ...

We're beginning our tech week tomorrow for Clue. It was much more of a challenge than I thought it would be. The trickiest part was the ending when they rewind and have to go to most of the rooms. We don't have a fly system so we couldn't change scenes with new backdrops or scrims as the script ...

I have a feeling this is becoming more commonplace in recent years. Last year we had 23 Thespians graduate. So there was a lot spent on pins and cords. We had an issue with a few people but it wasn't until the end of the year our Clerk and Secretary told me about it. Since we didn't deal with it ...

My first choice would be to use paint. But if you're going to stain and put a protective coat on top I would look at Streetshoe NXT Floor Finish. There are many options out there. My suggestion is "Once In A Lifetime" - George S. Kaufman. Very large cast and very funny. The only thing is, it's a little set heavy for a straight play but I guess it could be scaled back a little. Samuel French carries the rights if you want to take a look at it. - ...

Jessica, I hate to say it but this feels like a recent trend. I've been having issues for the past few years with officers. And it's only being made worse by "finsta" accounts which are "fake Instagram" accounts only certain students see. That's where they will trash talk each other in the hopes ...

We rented the Chip costume which was a giant tea cup. As for the invention, we used a bicycle and build a frame around it. Used corrugated plastic to skin a lightweight pvc frame. Then we added moving mechanisms. the front weapons move and the top items also rotate and move up and down. ...

Beth brings up some valid points but I guess I gave an abridged answer or "opinion", as I previously stated. Sure, you have to have the support or the board won't be able to be used properly. Thankfully, in my case, the company we purchased it from included training to bring the students up to speed ...
