I would look into AEO Studios out of Orlando FL. He has the makeup and the different parts without buying the whole set of prosthetics. He's really easy to work with.

The Mehron Mini Pro Kits retail for less than $20 and they offer 4 skin tones in each kit. Teachers have found they are easier to find a skin tone and they are cheaper. They also have an instruction book that instructs the student to do basic and aging makeup. So it's a great kit for students to practice ...

I have been teaching makeup safety for years. I agree with everyone's input. Here are some helpful tips. If you are going to use cream makeup and divide it out on plates, Don't use paper, it will absorb the oil. Use plastic plates or containers that can be covered between performances. Buying individual ...

There are retail stores that have websites. I would start with them, so you know who you are ordering from. Caufield's in Louisville, KY would be a major store in your area that carries all the brands and they ship quickly. Performance Studios in Nashville has gone to a website only and they carry all ...

It sounds like you have good practice during the show. Yes you can clean you makeup, cream or pressed powder. You can use rubbing alcohol to wipe down the surface of each product. You don't need to throw it away unless it's damaged or has gone bad from heat or age.

Ann Stage blood is a syrup based blood. So you try to warm it up in a hot water bath like we do with honey. Do not try the microwave, it will cook it. The second option is to add a little Lite Karo Syrup to it and mix. Thisl would also apply to the thick blood. If neither of these options work, it's ...

Good News! Those of you who have attended my makeup workshops over the years and those who wished they were on video, it's here. My full length workshop is on the link below. I would recommend checking with Chicago Airbrush, they have all the brands of machines and makeup.  They should be able to recommend the right equipment and makeup for the show. ------------------------------ Gene Flaharty Independence MO ------------------------------

You can make them with liquid latex, but don't build them on the actor. Use the clear latex and build the scars on a flat smooth surface. Use tissue to give it some techure allow each layer to dry. It takes about 5 layers in order for you to pull it up. Before you pull it make sure to use a setting makeup ...

Most costume shops will have the makeup you need. If you don't have a favorite, don't order from a website that can't help you with customer service. Order from a site that has a brick and mortar store so you will have some one there to help you. One choice that comes to mind is Norcostco Theatrical. ...

You have Josette's in Biloxi MS, that is a great source of fabric, trims, etc.  If you need a source to find a good costume shops in your area, go to the "National Costumers Association" website and find a shop by state. A lot of them ship anywhere and work with schools and PO's. ------------------------------ ...

I agree with the others, I have seen so many productions where the skin color has not been changed and the show was fantastic.  Here's what I've found as a makeup artist, we are in a good time right now where we can cast anybody to play any part (for the most part) and the audience doesn't care.  "Theatre ...

After working the national tour of Addams Family, I was excited for it to be done at the high schools. I have designed many productions of the show and have the makeup plot available if needed. One thing I would remind everyone, is the ancestors are ghost not skeletons. Their skin tone should be off ...

Just a reminder, if you are working on Shrek this summer or fall, there is a new vendor who has made all the prosthetics for the show. It's AEO Studios in Orlando FL. You can find him at AEOstudios.com. It would be great to order yours a head of time, there's going to be a big rush this fall. Also ...

Good news to those who are looking for Shrek Prosthetics. AEO Studios Inc in Orlando FL. is now making the full line of Shrek pieces. I have been to the studio and have seen them and they look great. They are foam and latex and are Hollywood quality for a fraction of the current price of other sites. ...
