Hello, I am interested in learning more about your book. I actually have a similar approach, but I would love to see what you do differently. Thanks! ------------------------------ Samantha Roop Theatre Teacher/ Play & Musical Director/ Head Coach ------------------------------

I highly recommend The Holiday Channel Christmas Movie Wonderthon …. It's hilarious. It pokes fun at all the Hallmark Christmas Movies. My kids loved being a part of it and the audience really loved it! We did it during COVID & everyone felt it was the perfect show to lift spirits & the decor of Christmas ...

Good Afternoon,  We also had some "interesting" issues as well. I sent back our materials the Monday after our show closed and that was March 6th I believe. We still have not received our $400 deposit back. I have communicated via email and on the phone. I was told it was received and after a few ...

I highly suggest Emma! A Pop Musical... known songs and loveable roles and two very strong female leads. This is based on Jane Austen's novel Emma, which was also the inspiration for Clueless the movie. This musical is a very clean version of Clueless. ------------------------------ Samantha Roop ...

Good Afternoon,I was curious if anyone had any advice or an organized process laid out for being a Theater Manager. Currently, we are trying to create several different usage forms/logs and I was curious how other Theaters organize their paper trial efficiently. I am also interested in how much your ...

Have you looked at Emma! The Pop Musical? We are doing that this year because I have never had any problems with guys, but we had such a strong group graduate that now I get to do some girl driven shows! There are a few male featured roles, but the female leads have 80% of the songs. Samantha Roop, ...

Theatre Professionals,I am extremely thankful for the feedback that I have received in this community! Thank you so much! My only issue is now you have me thinking that maybe I don't have my top two narrowed down, by providing me with so many different suggestions. For those of you who have produced ...

James, I completely understand (thank you for the chuckle), however, our community is very sensitive to certain topics. For example, my students performed Almost, Maine a few years ago and one parent went to the news over the scene "They Fell" it was an amazing show, but we were constantly being beaten ...

Good Afternoon, I teach in a conservative community and we will be opening our new auditorium this fall. For the first time in 9 years I have more female talent returning than male to showcase. The two titles I keep going back to that I feel are safe (as in nothing my community would raise an eye brow) ...

I really enjoyed directing "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do" it is a feel good show and completely safe if you have a community that is offended easily. It will be one of the shows that is talked about for a long time and we did Anything Goes and other popular hits in the past, but this one seemed to really ...

Good Morning,I am not only the Director of our fall play and spring musical, but the head cheer coach. I have looked into doing "Bring It On," but unfortunately our community is very conservative and are not as open minded as I would like for them to be. Sooo... because of one of the characters we would ...

Good Afternoon, I'm having a hard time nailing down the perfect show that I feel will be the BEST choice for my seniors that will be leaving. I have an incredible senior class this year and I'm struggling with showcasing my top actors (but there are so many) or going with an ensemble piece to spread ...

Suzanne, I am not sure what the shipping charges would be, but ATC (Associated Theatrical Contractors) in Springfield, MO owns a backdrop (that resemble the game board, as well as large playing cards). They will rent the pieces for a reasonable price. I am not sure what kind of budget you are working ...

Good Morning, For schools that are implementing the NEE evaluations... has anyone completed a Unit of Instruction for a theatre course? We will be working on ours at our next PLC (this Friday) and I would just like to use one for a reference and/or collaborate with another theatre educator since ...

Heather, Yes! I just need to this year. Last year my maternity leave was during our musical and I had to come back to save the musical and as selfless as I have been I just knew in my heart that it was wrong for me to not receive an appropriate maternity leave. I had set everyone up to succeed and ...

What version of 12 Angry Jurors did you use? I really appreciate all of the suggestions! I have put on shows as big as Anything Goes, but this year with so many changes in our music department I just would like to chose something more manageable with so many changes and lack of a rehearsal space. ...

I really enjoyed working on The Curious Savage and I think it's an excellent choice if you have some females to showcase. It is one of the shows that I would like to do again somewhere down the line (If I stick with theatre education). I did ask if I needed to cut the scene in Almost, Maine, but I was ...

Thank you for your response! I have looked at Women and War, but I wasn't sure how to incorporate more male roles, because I have several males this year who could really pull off anything (so I think that was why I scratched it off of my list). I am very interested in learning more about the way you ...
