I’d suggest showing high school pantomime videos. There are lots of enjoyable ones out there showing pantomime done to a musical track from competitions. Just look up that term. I’m my theater 1 class I use those to help communicate the ideas before we then go over the rules and start doing individual ...

When we did this show three years ago we did all the "past" scenes dressed in black, white and gray. Like the ashes of the past that brought her to where she is now. It worked well and we could recreate what we needed without having to find modem colorful equivalents and just sewed nazi armbands for the ...

What we've done this year is that all rehearsals were done with masks or face shields.  Of course we also do temperature checks, etc at the start of each rehearsal. We've also had ample hand sanitizer, etc.   For dress rehearsal and actual show the performers had their masks off while on stage only. ...

I’m in the same boat with my system except we aren’t allowed to use credit cards or any online system at all. It’s strictly cash only. So I’m not even certain how our season will be going this year.

It's definitely an issue that folks don't always want a small part and I do get some of that year to year but my students all know they are going to get a fair shake though. I don't always cast the best people in the roles. For one act competition, sure. In other shows, no. I see high school as a chance ...

I just bought several Eartec headsets during this past school year to use for our productions.  They worked out great for the students (who absolutely loved them and how easier it made things) and allowed freedom of movement  I'd definitely recommend. Just remember to not leave the batteries in when ...

As I understand it if they were in a junior troupe 5 points can carry over into high school. Then they need to earn another 5 at the high school program to be eligible for induction. ------------------------------ Jason Lehman McDonough GA ------------------------------

I don’t think there’s an actual requirement. In my program you earn your letter after 30 points. At 60 points you become an honor thespian and earn the honor cords for graduation. Jason Lehman Jackson High School Jackson, GA Sent from my iPhone

Have you looked at the Bully Plays? It's an anthology of 10 plays or so from dramatic publishing. Several of them deal with social media and I know one in particular deals with how teens shared an inappropriate picture of another student and the fallout of that. Etc. ------------------------------ ...

I wanted to reach out to more of the technical minded folks out in the community about requirements for lighting, etc. I'm in the lucky position where the are renovating and creating a new space in our school as a minature black box theater for seating of about 40-50, which will also be my new classroom. ...

I can relate with you there, (this is also my second year) as I have dealt with many of the same issues and people being upset they didn't get the role they wanted and that others were undeserving and so they choose to not show to rehearsals and make other things priorities. The good part is those folks ...

I've had the same issue this year, which is also my first year at this school. Previously it was apparently a lot of theatre games and I'm not sure how much more. Many of the students didn't like how I went beyond acting. (This is a Fundamentals of Theatre Course where you cover all areas of theatre). ...

Does anyone have some good strategies for line motivation and deadlines? I have a huge problem with students trying to wait to the last minute to have lines done and so by off book dates they're just very .... Unfortunate. I've tried tying things to examples about learning lines early so they can focus ...

Thank you for all the information. I did get rehearScore. It's a great program and I had just found out about MTI Pit. The others are new to me. Hopefully I can get something for Pippin through one of the other companies. Otherwise I need to brush up on my piano. ------------------------------------------- ...

I know a lot of folks here do MTI shows. When you don't have an orchestra how do you get an accompaniment cd to go along it? I had been under the assumption that they included one. The kinda that always says "rehearsal tracks" every 20 secs or so until they send you a final version. I'm curious because ...

I Hate Christmas might be a good choice. 8 girls and 2 boys. It's a Christmas comedy but with some drama mixed in and tells a wonderful story. ------------------------------------------- Jason Lehman Griffin GA -------------------------------------------

I just wanted to get some advice from folks. I've moved to a new school and will be teaching 6 periods of theatre with 199 students. So I have some larger classes. The only issue is all six classes are mixed. Each class is a mix of Theatre 1, 2, 3, and 4 students. Obviously I can take advantage of the ...
