#1 We all Empathize with you, in some way or another. #2 Short term - You need to get adults involved in protecting the innocent. Parents, Admin, community members, and Other teachers! and teach the kids how to appropriately stand up for themselves! You'll have to figure out what works for you, but ...

That sounds challenging. Could you tour some shows? Are there parks or community spaces that you could utilize? Could you strengthen partnerships with community groups or use a church space? IMO classic pieces are usually in one of 2 camps... those where the set is important aaaand those where the set ...

If anyone is familiar with that script... there are phrases in Greek and Hebrew, are we supposed to present the Greek and Hebrew spoken out loud and project the English to read, or speak both or project the foreign languages and speak the English translations?? OR what? I know Wilder was WILD about ...

I met Lindsay Price at Ntnl Conference last year. Super cool, super approachable, lots of great energy. I'd approach theatrefolks/her and ask away. https://www.theatrefolk.com/contact let us know if you get any good production ideas/reactions. We're all learning together. ------------------------------ ...

I wrote and we produced a new play based on some real events I heard about in the news a few years ago. While preparing for the Fall I got to thinking it would be an interesting Zoom. Message me if you are interested and I can get the original - and we could talk rewrite possibilities, maybe even make ...

As frustrating as it can be dealing with the ins and outs of our friends in the publishing/licensing end of things. I am planning on being as flexible as it takes to get it done - well wishes and prayers go out to my fellow troupe leaders trying to manage things! You'll figure it out!!! I am also ...

Has anyone produced/directed any plays with migration or refugee themes that they would recommend? We've got numerous kids from something like 70 different countries most of which are first generation in the US. We'd love to do more shows with characters / themes that deal with what they ...

Erika is on to something... unless you have contacts on the other side of hte mountains over at the Y or something... I would suggest thinking more broadly about costumes is the way to go. YOu can get wings or a bunch of cool cloth sent quickly and get a sewing queen to help you get to the finish ...

We did "War of the Worlds" as a live radio show years ago. Complete with live foley work and it was well-received. SInce the play doesn't rely on visual aspects the audience could eat and not miss a visiual gag or something. There are probably lots of fund radio shows out there, this is the only one ...

Whatever you go with... practice it in exactly the way you will for the real deal and let your Admin or custodians know when you plan on trying it out... (preferably at the end of rehearsal) so you don't have 1800 students and staff who all have to evacuate during the school day... and the firefighters ...

We cut and produced Hamlet a few years ago... seemed sort of crazy when we announced it... one of my favorite shows to cut/direct/experience. Whatever you do try include your English Dept people if u can and plan loads of extra time for memorization etc... Also, don't chicken out - as the sportspeople ...

contact R&H I'm sure that other folks have asked... maybe they have options. We had a little glitch too with the switch over, but that is to be expected with a tidal wave of change I think. I try to stay in contact with any of the houses when things change - as early as possible. I'd like to also add that my attempts to contact and ask for script modifications or extra ...

We did "Songs for a New World" last year. Cheap/Simple (as far as sets and costumes) and once the kids got to work... they loved it. Also, no scene work, which I thought I would hate (as the acting guy who doesn't do the singing or choreo), but it was super nice! Uhm what else??? Good Man Charlie ...

We've doubled every major musical role that we could for a number of years now. With 2 goals always in mind. #1 They gotta have the talent. #2 It saves us so often. It does take a little more patience and energy to handle.. but lots of times it helps (you get a study buddy and loads more leads ...
