Hi We just closed our Legally Blonde last weekend. My school is the opposite and is not diverse. Jamaican me Crazy we just played as frat boys dressed in Hawaiian shirts and khakis. We explained to the students that in college especially in frats and sororities they throw themed parties. This is just ...

Hi! My school did Puffs fall 2019 and it is by far the BEST play we have done yet. I have incoming students asking when they will get the chance to do Puffs next. Audiences do not need to understand or have background knowledge of Harry Potter to enjoy the show. Of course, the jokes are better received ...

Congrats on the new position.  I'm in my 3rd year of Troupe Advisor.  It is definitely a learning curve.  My thespian board runs our meetings.  We start each meeting with a game, review previous meeting notes, take attendance, update points at each meeting, discuss events for the month (we try to do ...

Hey there! I would recommend checking out Pioneer Drama.  I've used this company multiple times when I was looking for a large cast play that was inexpensive.  Plays that my students have loved from there are A Night at the Wax Museum (just like Night at the Museum), Haphazardly Ever After, Princess ...

Hi Nick, I recommend anything by Don Zolidis.  His plays are great in getting large cast members involved.  He just wrote a new one called, Power Line.  I would also recommend any play from Pioneer Drama.  I've used this company multiple times when I was looking for a large cast play.  Plays that ...

To answer some of your questions: This is a skill and software that I hope they can use in future productions and post-high school.  There will be multiple editors working on the production.  Our students have been given Chromebooks to use.  The plan is to film in person but to edit virtually ...

Hello Theatre Fam! My high school is currently working on a virtual Evening of One Acts.  We are able to perform in small groups on stage.  Our plan is to film it and then edit the scenes together.  Does anyone have suggestions on video editing software?  Our tech guy at my school suggests We Video ...

Hi! Same boat here.  Zoom is not approved by our district.  We are just starting the process of recording via google meet and these tips are helpful.  My district does allow the use of Microsoft Teams.  Teams have some fun backgrounds.  Does your district support Microsoft Teams?  I haven't played ...

Good Morning, I have been lucky and have had the oppositive experience with co-directing.  I think that every person who views a performance has a different experience and view. I appreciate what my co-director brings to the stage.  Sometimes they see things I miss or have a different idea how to ...

Thank you everyone for all your responses.  It has given me so many ideas on where to take my program.  I do have a great group of parent volunteers that help monitor students and run my carps shop but I am the only teacher on staff.  We do not have a theatre arts class in our school. It is a shame and ...

Hello, I have a question for all the season veterans out there.  I have seen some of you post that you have 3 shows a season as well as one acts.  I am just curious what your calendar (year at glance) looks like.  Currently, I have 2 shows a season and we attempted one acts this year but had to cancel ...

I directed Little Mermaid Jr last year for our middle school 6th-7th grade.  I give you a lot of credit for directing 60 students at once, especially the younger ones.  1. We had 6 mersisters but there is no reason you couldn't have more, however; you have to think about your costume budget.  If you ...
