Check out the Shakespeare Free Library out of Vermont. All their versions are abridged and they are absolutely free. All they ask is acknowledgement in your program.  I have used both their Tempest and Macbeth. With our Macbeth I added one scene back in and did not use the "news crier" suggestion. It ...

I need some advice. Our fall musical created a star, and a monster. A senior who has been an energetic and entertaining part of our program for 5 years has just gone off the rails. He made terrible comments about other cast members from the fall show, derided the spring show and it's cast, and showed ...

The killing of Duncan with Mac and Lady M is easy and offstage. The problem is I am staging Act 5, scene 1. I know the blood is imaginary but I really like the Folger/Two Rivers collaboration production and the one thing I have taken from it is the use of blood appearing on her hands as she rubs them ...

We are producing Macbeth and I need blood on Lady M's hands. I've never worked with fake bloodbefore and everything I am looking to order only addresses blood capsules that are broken open in the mouth. Can someone tell me if there are capsules or tiny packets that will break open in her hands as she ...

Trust me, I am dedicated to the originals and love Shakespeare, but this year the situation is out of my hands and I need an alternative. It's a long story

Can anyone recommend a really great modern version of Macbeth, maybe similar to the BBC's Shakespeare Retold but written for the stage? Thanks.

Two years ago we did You Can't Take It With You and it went very well. Plus, actors and tech had a great time doing it. With a few tweaks this show holds up incredibly well and still has a great message to deliver.

We really want to do Lend Me A Tenor in the spring but my students and I are having some serious discussions about the blackface Otello characters. We are a small school of limited diversity, but our community is very diverse. How do we address the "brown face" makeup needed to maintain the identity ...

Hi. First, thank you to everyone who gave me such great feedback on the cultural appropriation question back in January. It was all very helpful and we decided to go with creating our own mythical world somewhere in the south pacific. Now less than 3 weeks out I have a shoe problem. Ideally everyone ...

Thank you. I appreciate your advice and I'm going to take it. So many other mind fields out there in HS theatre might as well not jump on one intentionally! Thanks.

Looking for feedback. I am at a 7-12 school of choice with a population of less than 1000. I am not the drama teacher, but I was coaxed back to directing and ITS sponsorship last spring. I am directing The Tempest for the spring. I cast before break and rehearsals begin Jan 12th. Here is the quandary: ...
