Hello, In previous years I have directed Disney’s Alice in Wonderland Jr. and Shrek the Musical Jr. at our middle school. They were both a success, but I feel like I want to try a straight play this year instead of another musical. I have about 30 students to cast from: 26 girls and 4 boys (some of those ...

My favorite one acts for high schoolers are: Cut, The End of Civilization as We Know it, Day 6, Dinner with the McGuffins and Hard Candy. They are all comedies. We have also done the book World a Fire as a dramatic one act. We turned each chapter into a monologue. They were all connected and set at ...

Many schools do Act 1 for free during school. It exposes more students to live theatre, and promotes your program to students that might not otherwise know what theatre is all about, also it attracts new audience members for the night time show if it peaks someone's interest and they want to come back ...

Oh - and what about Shrek the Musical? Shrek would be great for him. I just did Shrek Jr. with about 23 kids and only 4 boys as well. Many kids had to play multiple roles (except Fiona, Donkey, Shrek & Lord Farquaad) but we managed it, and the audience loved it. Sent from my iPad

What about Fiddler on the Roof? There is a junior version too if you are interested. Tevya (I think I spelled that right) is a wonderful role to showcase a male. Plus it is a beautiful story. It makes me cry every time. Sent from my iPad

It's not too hard.  We actually made ours out of styrofoam, painted it (with styrofoam paint), then attached it to a headband the same color as the actor's hair and then pinned the headband to his head.  It worked out great!  I love that one act. - it's so much fun.  Good luck! ------------------------------ ...
