Take a look at Shakesplosion" by Andrew Geha. There are brief bits with the witches and the ghost of Hamlet's father, but might pass in context. Plenty of sword fighting and very funny. We had a cast of 15. Min is 13 but can accommodate as large a cast as you want.

We did the regular version but needed to request a change of the suicide to an accident and got swift approval of specific line changes from Concord to do so. There are only 3 or 4 actual references to suicide and the shift was very easy.

Hmmm. You haven't mentioned WHAT time frame you see it in. I personally don't see it translating into anything modern/contemporary. But what about a dystopian future...

For upper class, take the royal family as your inspiration. For middle and lower, look at contemporary British sit coms and dramas - especially sit coms as they tend to some exaggeration that makes distinction easier. ------------------------------ Janet Wood Drama Director [Columbia High School] [Columbia] ...

It is not just a Florida problem. For the last 18 years I've directed a 7-12 program in a small Title I school in Lancaster County, PA, with no curricular theatre, limited arts and music in a sports-centric community. Can't even count the number of talented students we've lost because of peer pressure ...

Caden, your question is timely and your reasoning process is insightful, intelligent and best of all kind. Here is my "2 cents" as an old cis woman for what it's worth. Good theatre (and She Kills Monsters is very good theatre) is about themes universal to the experience of being human. If there is a ...

Friends, I have reached out to member services, but response is taking a while and my Activities Director is getting antsy because accounting is getting antsy. So I'm popping the question here. How does one get a receipt for a paid invoice? The backstory: I generated orders for induction materials ...

My program is also combined middle and high school and neither students nor community are Shakespeare-savvy. We did "Shakesplosion" four years ago. Kids had a blast. Whole audience enjoyed it and those who did know Shakespeare found it hysterical. Pacing is key - that and a good combat master!

Highly recommend "Shakesplosion" by Andrew Geha. Available through Youth Plays. Kids and audiences loved it.

Has anyone had any luck updating school principal information. It is ludicrous that the only place this individual shows up is in my troupe roster, unalterable except to award him scholastic standing or more points!  I am no IT savant, but wouldn't it make sense that school Principals be an editable/updatable ...

Anyone else deadlocked trying to update their profile? All I wanted to do was update my phone number - and now I'm locked because it is demanding ethnic information - but won't accept any answer.

I think this is a challenge for most of us. I direct in a small school system and the students in my program tend to be not only honors students juggling a heavy class load, but active in student council, national honor society, and marching band - plus we're a poor district and many of them hold jobs ...

Reach out to WWI re-enactment groups in your area. All re-enactors are protective of their kits and probably won't lend - but they love to talk about what they do and may put you on the trail of resources. There are also lots of antique dealers who specialize in militaria. Any way you slice it, it's ...
