Yes. I agree. It's something we all need so it should be easier to find. ------------------------------ Christina Iman Teacher Ripley WV ------------------------------

I'm in a very similar situation. Our troupe gets no money so everything I spend has to come from either student dues or fundraisers. Some years I don't have enough to purchase the things my seniors deserve for their graduation swag. I have had students pay for their own, which I hate. Sometimes I've ...

We obtained the rights for those songs a couple of years back when we did Grease. I'm pretty sure the details were in our contract with Samual French, and my music director did that step so I'm not 100% sure. But I remember filling out paperwork detailing which songs we wanted and sent it to the company ...

We bought a makeup product call coal dust. It worked very well. It makes a mess but it cleans up. I think it came from The Costumer. ------------------------------ Christina Iman Teacher Ripley WV ------------------------------

Our community theater group did it a couple of years ago (great choice by the way). I don't remember exactly how we did the hanging. But I know we didn't show anything. I think we just did it with sound effects. Showed the actor with a noose walking off stage so it was obvious what happened. ---- ...

We did The Haunting of Hill House a couple of years ago. Would've been great if my lead had learned the lines! -- CHRISTINA IMANRIPLEY HIGH SCHOOLENGLISH AND THEATER

I needed a big hourglass when we did Wizard of Oz, but I couldn't find one I liked. So I bought 2 small bathroom-sized transparent trash cans that tapered near the bottom and had our school's shop kids drill a hole in the bottoms, attach them with some sort of glue, and build a stand around them. We ...

How do I know if my mics are affected by the frequency sell-off? I'm not very tech savvy so keep all explanations basic, please. ------------------------------ Christina Iman Teacher Ripley WV ------------------------------

The first play I managed to do that was successful as my high school theater director was "Getting Sara Married." It's a small cast, very funny (language may be a bit much at times), modern so costuming and references are easy for kids to get. But it's the play that basically established my department ...

We had something similar happen 2 years ago. The student had paid her induction fee, but because of craziness that happened at the end of the year, our inductions were postponed until the beginning of the next school year.  Unfortunately she died following complications from surgery over the summer. ...

My troupe is still relatively young and inexperienced. Comedies are our strong suit. Anything too serious we haven't been able to pull off well. However, my kids want to branch out and push themselves to do something serious next year. I'm all for it, but am having trouble finding a play that I think ...

My principal shot down the stoles only because our National Honors Society wears them and he didn't want something too similar so those kids are recognized for their academic achievements.  Other honors societies use cords.  So we decided to do the medallions.  It makes our honor stand out from the rest ...

I'm in the same boat.  I don't even try to do more than student-written scripts in Theater 1 anymore. But in Theater 2-4 I want students who want to be there, but I keep getting kids who "want an easy A." They don't care about theater and it's a fight to get them to do even in class activities. So if ...

When we did a few years back, we happened to have a student was really good at creating computer graphics and such, we used lighting to create a dim look and projected a video he created. We also created a video of the wizard head to project for the scenes in the Emerald City, too. But it cost us nothing ...

When I find myself with just a few days until the end of a semester or extended break I do theater etiquette rules posters or videos. They have to choose an etiquette rule and create a poster or video that illustrates the rule. ------------------------------ Christina Iman Teacher Ripley WV - ...
