This is one part of a series of blogs about maximizing your experience with our online Community, not only to help newbies get their bearings but to also help experienced users learn more and take the next steps, or assist others.
Today, I will tell you part about a new part of Community, the Mentor Match program. This unique online networking and career development tool is an EdTA members-only benefit that helps you find, connect, and share experiences with others. As you're contemplating resolutions for the new year, think about a professional goal you'd like to accomplish. Next, use Mentor Match to find an experienced Mentor that can help you achieve it.
For example, let's say you'd like to develop some new curriculum, maybe for a new class you're hoping to teach next year, or just want to spice up an existing rotation. Wouldn't it be useful to have someone who's already been in your shoes to provide advice and ideas or look over your material?
The first step is to Enroll as a Mentee.
Next, you'll search the Mentor Directory for a Mentor with experience in "curriculum development" and a list of incredible people will appear. This list is made up of people who want to help you accomplish your theatre education goals!
Here are two of these experts that I've featured recently in Mentor Spotlights, both are accepting new Mentees now:
Gai Laing Jones
Scott Wilson
Your mentoring relationship can be on your time and take place by email, phone, text, skype, in person, etc. You can choose a mentor in your state, or across the country. Make 2020 the year you stop dreaming and start doing. Charter that troupe, teach that technical theatre class, try new fundraising ideas, or find a better work/life balance.
Let me know how I can help.
