Steven Fleming is now an assistant principal at the school he first started teaching theatre in, Oakland Mills High School. Prior to this he was an assistant principal at Hammond High School for three years. During his time as a theatre teacher, he also served as the lead technical theatre teacher for Howard County Public Schools. He served as a member of the Howard County Education Association's Board of Directors from 2013-2014 and was on the Board of Directors of Howard County Summer Theatre from 2008-2019. In 2015 he helped to organize the Maryland Theatre Teacher's Association.
Outside of school he continues to work with area theatres, including co-directing Les Miserables at Toby's Dinner Theatre and directing a production of Next to Normal with Silhouette Stages which won the Ruby Griffith Award for Outstanding Achievement in a Musical. DC Metro Theatre Arts has recognized Steven as one of the best directors for a musical in 2016. In 2016 and 2018 he worked as the projection designer for the Columbia Center for Theatrical Arts production of a newly written musical, Magic Under Glass. In 2017 he directed and designed projections for a production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame also the Columbia Center for Theatrical Arts.
