Matt Curtis is the Content & Marketing Director at the Educational Theatre Association, an organization he has been involved with since elected vice-president of Thespian Troupe 561 at Thomas Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Prior to his role at EdTA, Matt worked on Broadway at Disney Theatrical Productions, where he oversaw the development of musicals and plays as they were published for licensed productions. As writer, editor, and/or project manager, he has contributed to the development of over 50 plays and musicals, including Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Peter and the Starcatcher, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Freaky Friday, as well as educational adaptations of Moana, Frozen, Finding Nemo, Mary Poppins, Aladdin, Mean GIrls, Hairspray, Crazy for You, The Sound of Music, Singin’ in the Rain, among others. Matt holds a BA in Musical Theatre and a master’s degree in Theatre Education from the University of Northern Colorado. Matt is honored to have worked with President Obama’s Turnaround Arts program (now run by The Kennedy Center), which provides underserved communities with transformative theatre arts opportunities in schools. Matt is also a theatrical director, and was recently honored to guest direct Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella at his alma mater. Matt currently resides in Boston with his husband, Ash, and his Wheaten terrier, Harold.
