Jason Daunter has spent the last fifteen years working professionally on the road and in New York City on Broadway. His Broadway management credits include; To Kill a Mockingbird starring Jeff Daniels, Meteor Shower, A Doll’s House, Part Two starring Laurie Metcalf, Shuffle Along, Wicked, Glory Days, and Cyrano De Bergerac starring Kevin Kline. National tours include: A Gentlemen’s Guide to Love and Murder, Wicked, Chicago, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and A Christmas Carol.
Jason has been fortunate to work closely with theatre luminaries such as Meryl Streep, Chita Rivera, Steve Martin, Aaron Sorkin, Chris Cooper, Laura Benanti, and directors from Bartlett Sher, Joe Mantello to Jerry Zaks and George C. Wolfe.
On the national level of Educational Theatre Jason is the recipient of The Educational Theatre Association’s President & Founders Awards. Jason served on the Board of Directors for the Educational Theatre Association. Jason is a proud member of Thespian Troupe #5140 (Fort Zumwalt North High School in O’Fallon, MO) and an Honorary Member of Troupe #5929 and #2129.
In January 2012, Alongside Gai Jones, Matt Conover, Kristen McFadden, Diane Carr, and Jason Yarcho, Jason created and developed Making Magic, Defying Gravity. An outreach fundraise that followed the National tour of Wicked across the country. Combining professionals on and offstage with local high school students across the country. MMDG raised 40K in its years on the road for Thespians. In addition to his work with EdTA his philanthropic efforts include the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, American Cancer Society, and both The Actors Fund and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
Jason and his MMDG collaborators went on to create one of kind Thespian Festival Openings for five years in Lincoln, Nebraska. Taking Thespians from all over the country and bringing then together in a 72-hour rehearsal process and opening the Festival to close to 4,000 attendees. Collaborating with some of musical theatres biggest names from; Shaiman and Wittman, Alan Menken, Stephen Schwartz, and Ahrens and Flaherty. With Hunter Bell, Jason developed the model that is used for Broadway Back to School and Thespians Go Hollywood. In 2019, Jason returned to direct Broadway Back to School as the event moved to the Edison Ballroom in NYC. The 2019 event more than doubled its revenue, status in the theatrical community and solidified its legacy of an educational benefit in New York City.
Jason has presented at Thespian festivals in the States of Arkansas, California, Georgia, Kansas, Missouri, Nevada, New York, and New Jersey. He has been the Keynote Speaker for the States of Arkansas, California, Missouri, New York and Nevada. Since 2009 he has mentored the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Stage Managers. He has presented master classes at the University of Nebraska Lincoln, Miami University- Ohio, Cincinnati College Conservatory (CCM), Lindenwood University, Webster University, USITT, and the Actors Equity Association. Jason served as an adjunct professor at Queens College in New York teaching Stage Management.
Jason is a proud member of the Actors Equity Association, The International Thespian Society (Troupe 5140, an honorary member of Troupe 5929 and 2129), a member of Alpha Psi Omega (the National Honorary Theatre Fraternity), and a professional member of the Educational Theatre Association.
