Helen is a former Thespian troupe director from Assumption High School and Davenport North High School in Davenport, Iowa. Having served on the Iowa Thespian board for several years, she also served as the Iowa Chapter Director. She currently serves the board as chair for the Advocacy Committee. In this capacity, Helen has attended many Iowa and National Arts Advocacy Days. She worked on the steering committee for the Iowa Arts Caucus in 2015. She is also on the advisory board for the Iowa Arts Alliance. In addition, Helen is a member of the EdTA Advocacy Leadership Network. In 2018, Helen was inducted into the EdTA Hall of Fame and was also elected to the EdTA board of directors.
Professionally, Helen is an educational consultant at Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency. Her responsibilities include Secondary Literacy, Arts, and Title III. Additionally, she sits on the Iowa DE Arts Team.
