You could see if you would be allowed to cut Sing Down the Moon or Perseus Bayou (I think they're both from Dramatic Publishing). They're reasonably priced and I think could be fun for your group.

Subject: Short Plays with Music for a Middle School Musical Class
Hi!
I teach a 9-week Spring musical theatre class with a performance at the 7-week mark. Last year, we did 2 selections from MTI's new 10-Minute Musicals. This year, none of the selections are working with my group of 8.
Do you all know of a good one-act play with music (rather than a full-blown musical?) Maybe something similar to "Peter and the Starcatcher"? With the time allotted for in-school rehearsals, I think a 30-minute show is as much as we can do and have the students feel successful. The Kids version of MTI shows are too expensive for this class and require too large of a cast.
Any suggestions would be helpful! Thanks!
