  • 1.  Musical ideas? SOS!

Hello, I need some good musical suggestions for my spring show. I have a rather large Drama Club, but I graduated most of my strong performers. I don't have a standout female or male singer, unfortunately. We are also not a strong dance group, so any show with complicated choreo would be out. I have a dedicated set builder, but our school is undergoing some construction, so space is currently limited. I am just having some real trouble finding some inspiration! We have performed a lot of great shows, and between us and our local community theatre, I am afraid there aren't a ton of good options left. Our most recent musicals include Little Shop of Horrors, Legally Blonde, Beauty and the Beast, Footloose, Annie, and High School Musical. Our local community theatre just did Mean Girls last year, so that is out. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

We did The Lightning Thief a couple of years ago. Amazing show. Everyone loved it and a ton of fun to produce. You can get really creative with the staging.

Two others that were on our short list for this year.

I love those ideas, but a neighboring school just did The Lightning Thief. Ride the Cyclone has too small of a cast, and we are doing Alice in Wonderland for our fall play. Thank you for responding!

We also did The Lightning Thief two years ago. It was a fun experience for a lot of our younger, new kids, but it does require several strong singers, especially for Percy and Clarisse. 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is fun and divides the wealth among the principals. I added an ensemble and got it up to about 19 kids - so possibly still too small for what you need - but it was one of my favorites I've worked on!
