Hi community! I need your help. I am auditing our rehearsal schedules to try to advocate for adjusting our production calendar next year. My questions are:

1) How many hours do you rehearse a musical before tech? During tech? And how many weeks is that over?

2) How many hours do you rehearse a play before tech? During tech? And how many weeks is that over?

Or if you want to share a sample rehearsal calendar with me, I'll take that too!

These are general answers to your questions:

1) How many hours do you rehearse a musical before tech? During tech? And how many weeks is that over?

depending on the show -- app. 75 hours prior to tech

app 16 hours of tech rehearsal

2) How many hours do you rehearse a play before tech? During tech? And how many weeks is that over?

app. 45 hours (2.5 hours per day for 4 weeks) prior to tech

app 16 hours of tech rehearsal

For a play, six weeks total, three times a week for about 3 hours for the first five weeks and every night during during tech/dress/performance week for more like 4 hours. We usually to two 6-hour Saturday workdays.

For a musical, we sometimes go seven weeks.

You'll always wish you had more rehearsal time, but this really is plenty.
