  • 1.  Free plays to look for????

    Hello,

I am looking for suggestions on where to find free or cheap play scripts for high school students. We just started our drama club this semester and all the plays the kids want to do seem to be way out of budget. If you have websites or play suggestions please share. :)

Theatrefolk and Stage Partners have been great!

I've enjoyed the vignette-style scripts (we did Tracy Wells' A Night Under the Stars last spring) and it was very flexible and manageable, had broad appeal, and was well-received by our community!)

There are a lot of wonderful plays on Playscripts.com, Dramatic Publishing, Stage Partners and other publishing houses have good selections as well. Prices vary but are relatively affordable. One acts will be cheaper than full length plays and might be a good way to get this new club going. You should also consider public domain plays, so no royalties. Here is one site that has links to a few different public domain play sites.  https://libraryguides.oswego.edu/c.php?g=191465&p=2916143. There are also authors that publish their plays independently and those are typically pretty cheap and usually have digital downloadable scripts. And sometimes they are willing to work with schools on a tight budget. We've used Off the Wall Plays a couple times for our one act showcase.

    Best of luck!
