In previous years, the closing ceremonies have been black tie/prom attire and had a red carpet event before starting.  This year, I saw that they took the semi-formal attire of the recommended packing list.  Are closing intended to be more casual this year?  Trying to make sure my kids pack the right clothes!

    Thank you!

    Hi Kristin,

Thanks for asking. Students are (and have always been) free to wear anything they like to the Closing Ceremonies. The closing day's schedule is quite full, and a dedicated red carpet was not a possibility this year because of the timings of other exciting events. Of course, some groups may still take the opportunity to celebrate the end of the festival by dressing up, but it certainly isn't expected or required in any way. Feel free to do what makes you comfortable and happy!

    Cheers,

I'd suggest your kids pack smart-casual outfits: dress pants or a skirt paired with a button-up shirt or a nice blouse. Nothing too fancy, but still presentable. That should have them covered without being overdressed.
