Bio

Andrea Lee Roney (BA Theatre & Speech DeSales Univerity; MFA Acting Penn State) has served as an Adjunct professor of acting, speech, and writing at Penn State, Lehigh, DeSales, Gwynedd-Mercy Universities.  Her professional career has spaned 35+ years in Acting, Directing, Producing, Writing, & Administrative positions.  From 1997-2001 she was first Director of Marketing/Publicity, then General Manager of the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival.  Under her direction the professional Festival first passed the 30,000 patron mark. Since 2005, she has had a second (or maybe third or fourth career) as North Penn High School Theatre producer, director, marketing/publicity organizer, and founder/director of the sponsorship/fundraising campaigns for 2 main stage productions per year. She is also the director for Thespian Troupe 5464 which has an active altruistic and production agenda each year including: Philly AIDS Walk ($1500-$2000 raised annually), Pennsylvania Thespian Conference (7 main stage productions presented since 2007), Middle School Workshops for 50-100 7th-9th grade students from 3 school, and annual Knight of the Arts Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Gala and Silent Auction celebrating its 19th anniversary in 2018 after being the first school to fundraise for BC/EFA. As the NPHS Theatre Teacher, she has created classes for Introduction to Acting, Stage Crew and Design, Advanced Acting, and Drama Major educating students from introductory to college level theatre skills as they progress through the theatre courses. Ms. Roney serves on the Executive Board of Pennsylvania State Thespians and also serves as Advocacy Chair. She also represents PA Thespians on the Steering Committee for the Pennsylvania Arts Education Network. Ms. Roney has taught the workshop Dramaturgy for Design for the International Thespian Festival in 2016 & 2017, first developed for the PA State Thespian Conference. She has presented multiple workshops for the PA State Thespian Festival since 2005..  NPHS Theatre's and Thespian Troupe production of She Stoops to Conquer was presented on the Main Stage at the 2017 International Thespian Festival.  Ms. Roney has been married to actor and voice-over artist, Charles S. Roney for 39 years.  They have two sons, who both have lovely women in their lives, and are proud grandparents of 4-year old James Roney Roney (that's his full name) or JR (which is his empty name as he tells us!)
