Bio


Wil Kilroy: Currently the Department Head of Theatre Arts at NMSU and the Managing Director of the American Southwest Theatre Company, Wil holds a BFA from the University of Rhode Island and an MFA from the University of Illinois, with additional training from the American Academy of Dramatic Art and the National Shakespeare Company in NYC.
He has worked nationally as an actor and director, with roles ranging from Steve in Becky’s New Car, to Michael in Tony ‘n Tina’s Wedding to Laertes in Hamlet, and TV appearances including As the World Turns and Babylon 5. Wil is also an alumni guest artist for The State Ballet of Rhode Island where he annually plays the role of Dr. Coppelius in Coppelia.

Wil’s directing credits range from Nunsense to his original piece, Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, and his productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Laramie Project, and Purple Breasts were all chosen to perform at the New England Kennedy Center’s American College Theatre Festival. As the co-founder of the National Michael Chekhov Association, Wil has presented workshops from Greece to London and all over the U.S. Wil formerly chaired the Department of Theatre at the University of Southern Maine, the New England Kennedy Center’s American College Theatre Festival, and the New England Theatre Conference.
Wil is the recipient of three Kennedy Center Bronze Medallions, a Kennedy center scholarship for study with Uta Hagen, the Moss Hart Award, the Maine Education Association’s Human and Civil Rights Award, and USM’s Outstanding Teacher/Scholar Award. Wil is also a certified fitness instructor.
