Amanda Swann has been a theatre educator for over 20-years, previously teaching theatre arts at James Monroe High School in North Hills, CA and Birmingham High School in Van Nuys, CA. She joined the faculty of the downtown Los Angeles arts school Ramon C. Cortines School of the Visual and Performing Arts in 2010 where she produced the world premiere of Neil Simon’s Musical Fools with her husband Phil and Ron West. Her students have received numerous awards and scholarships. Previous students have performed in NYC as national finalists in the English Speaking Union Shakespeare Competition, the National High School Musical Theatre Awards and the August Wilson Monologue Competition. Her students have been recognized through YoungArts and she is proud to have had a Presidential Scholar. Her students have received top honors in Southern CA at the Music Center’s Spotlight Awards, the Fullerton College High School Theatre Festival, the Drama Teacher’s Association of Southern CA (DTASC) and the CA Educational Theatre Association (CEAT) Southern High School Theatre Festival. Other career highlights have been to travel to Scotland with student performers for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in ‘04 and ‘11. Amanda is a past-president of both the CETA and DTASC, currently sitting on the CETA Board.
