Bio

Brian Kaufman, is originally from Fairfield, Connecticut. He graduated from Five Towns College (Long Island, NY) with a BFA, concentration in acting. He has had the privilege of learning from some of the finest professors; Jack Allison, Phillip Hoffman and Milton Justice.
Brian was a performer in NYC and also was a part of a few national tours. As a theater director and teacher Brian built up the theatre program at Camp Billings in Fairlee, Vermont. Leaving after eight years of building up their program they have named an award after him called The Brian Kaufman Award for Excellence in Musical Theatre.
Five years ago Brian decided to take a chance and come down to Nashville to pursue a career in teaching. Right now Brian is finishing up his Masters, in Education at Lipscomb University. He is currently the Theatre Director/Teacher and Forensics Coach at Ravenwood High School.
Brian has been acting and directing for the past fourteen years. Some of his favorite acting credits include; Barnette Lloyd in Crimes of the Heart(NY); Man #2 in Closer Than Ever(NY); Scarecrow and Tinman in The Wizard of Oz(NY and National Tour); The Fox in Pinocchio(NY); Policeman/Robber in Pipi Longstocking(National Tour); and Old Joe Hardy in Damn Yankees(TN).
Brian has also directed a number of plays and musicals. Some of his favorite shows he has directed include; Noises Off (RHS & ThesCon); Thoroughly Modern Millie (RHS);You’re A Goodman Charlie Brown (VT); Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (VT); High School Musical (VT); and The Little Mermaid (VT).
He is very excited to be a part of the Towne Center Summer Theatre program. Brian lives by these words of the late and great Charlie Chaplin, “A day without laughter is a day wasted.”
