I contacted the playwright to pitch my idea of a benefit for a high school whose theatre and everything that goes along with that was destroyed in Hurricane Harvey. The playwright said she'd be honored to let us do that free of royalties and script cost. We used costumes and furniture we had in stock ...

I saw a great idea for the tornado. It was light blue fabric hanging from the rigging/batten and a person in a matching morph suit spinning it. It looked great! Sent from my iPad

Nancy, I did this a few years ago, and loved the play- so creative and imaginative. I did not double cast anything. We did it as the fall play where there are lots of kids and you want to give parts to all. If you have the kids, there's really no point in double casting those roles. Have fun!! Sent ...

Almost , Maine is a great one to do with those specifications. Because each scene is two people, they can all work simultaneously, so your rehearse time is greatly diminished. Set can be as simple as you want. It's not terribly comedic though, but our audiences loved it so much and the student actors ...

Such a fun show!!! Our Ed just worked up some decent sounding tunes over time. He threw in some glissandos, but it was pretty random stuff since none of the characters are really supposed to be very good at what they do. Sent from my iPad

No, I never contacted the family directly. The publisher was in close contact with them. I emailed the rep several times telling him they were going to ruin children's lives etc....laying it on thick trying to get them to relent , but they never would. Our time limit was 40 minutes. We had to build in ...

Juniper, We did this show for a one act play competition. The family has approved a one act adaptation. They will not allow you to cut any further even if you beg...which I did!! It could not be done in our 40 minute time constraint without sounding like chipmunks on speed. We built in a bail-out point, ...

There are battery powered candles you can buy that actually go off when you blow on them. I ordered a lamp like that on Amazon for a show earlier this year. Sent from my iPad .

Ellen, Our venue is 1050 seats because it was built as a huge concert hall for our band and a competition site site for our district's band and orchestras. Our theatre audiences however; are between 150 and 200. Most companies take that into consideration on the initial application and don't have to ...

Dear Educator Friends,I agree with your estimation of Samuel French's royalty fees. Every other company is a max of $125 per show. I requested royalties for our Varsity show for 4 performances and they quoted $1220.00. A representative from Samuel French commented on here that they will gladly work with ...

Dramatic Publishing really does themselves a disservice by not including an excerpt to read. The play sounds interesting, but I wouldn't order it without reading a bit. Sent from my iPad

Dear theatre folks, I have been searching and reading everything I can get my hands on to find a play for our UIL competition in February. We did Johnny Belinda last year and were so seriously in love with it that we can't seem to move on!!! I'm looking for a drama with lots of meat and literary merit. ...
