I mean Midsummer, obviously, especially if is their first Shakespeare.   I also did and loved Twelfth Night.  It has some great roles and the kids do get it.   We also recently did, As You Like It.  - Fluff but fun. Much Ado is so guy heavy although I love Benedict & Beatrice. ----------- ...

My role is they NEVER give any anything notes in rehearsal. I do require feedback in the classroom. I train them in how to give said feedback and allow responses to the feedback. It works out well. I will shut them down quickly if they try any of that in rehearsal.

"While I know others break the law with impunity, I feel it is part of my job to teach respect for other people's work. I take my contracts seriously and I do not wish to violate them or to teach my students that bootlegging is okay. Thanks for understanding."

Well, I teach at a large school and competition is pretty fierce.  Our policy is if someone wants to bail before a cast list is posted, no harm - no foul!  If it is after a cast list is posted and then they bail I don't even let them read for me for one calendar year.  I expressly said this one time ...

Hello! I've got a question out there for those of you working with Boosters or other parent groups. We've got a great Boosters organization but I don't know how to best involve them. Also, any really interesting fund raising ideas out there? TIA!

I guess it's me.  I'm the Theatre teacher and and I direct the All-School and the Thespian Show as well as the competition pieces throughout the year (State and others).  I'm also the sponsor. There is a musical team but they are exclusively so.  I guess Admin would look to me.  Often, in my school, ...

I've done a number of Shakespearean plays. My first was Midsummer, which I highly recommend as a gateway play. My students fell in love with his work and have begged to do more. Since then, we've done Macbeth, and a competition cutting of Hamlet. This year we are doing Twelfth Night. I say go for it ...

Here are my thoughts.on this. I want to give any qualified (experience and classes) student the opportunity to direct.  And I have had some fantastic students do so with a One-Act.   However, a full production is beyond the scope of 99.999% of teenagers.  If this experience is meant to be representational ...

My take on it would be to not say a word.  Let the next audition process speak for you.  Whenever I have posted a Cast List there is always the inevitable conversations as to why the names on the list are there and why so and so isn't. This is an awesome lesson for themto learn. They are absolutely testing ...

The school I teach at has a pretty large Fine Arts Booster organization. It has been very supportive of the bands but has been underutilized by the other fine art areas. Id like to form a stronger collaboration with them but have no idea where to start, Any insight to how others work this tricky relationship ...
