I have a lot of kids who would like to be involved in a full length play but are in two different classes. After school rehearsal is a sometimes option but much ...

We track by hours. It takes 100 hours to be a Thespian. You have to earn hours from different categories..like acting, business, tech. I have students sign in for rehearsal so hours are based on actual attendance. ------------------------------ Linda Button Theatre Teacher Springdale High School ...

I would like to propose teaching several classes of Theatre 1 and one audition-grade (2.75)-attendance based class for Theatre 2 & 3. I would like this advanced class to be two class periods long with student option to take both hours or one of these hours. In this class, students would perform one short ...

How do other drama teachers handle not being in all places at the same time? We all know drama classes are based on trust, but sometimes a good student makes a poor choice. If a student causes harm to self and or others and the drama teacher is not in that space of the theatre, it has been told to me, ...

I was reading the thread about busy schedules and I was wondering if anyone has a performance class where you audition students to be in the class and use them for your show talent. This could reduce the amount of after school rehearsals and conflicts that go into this. Choir does it. Band does it. Why ...

I've changed points to hours. Ten hours equals one point, but not all shows require a lead to work 80 hours for 8 points. Therefore it takes 100 hours to receive Thespian status. Hours still must come from various sections, ie: business, performance, technical. It works well for us. ------------- ...

I read on EdTA where Legally Blonde made the list of top ten musicals most done this year. I love this musical. Is there a version I am unaware of or are there a lot of very liberal schools? Aren't some of those lyrics inappropriate? ------------------------------------------- Linda Button Springdale ...

Our school does some academies. There is talk of wall to wall academies in the future, but fine arts is not being addressed as one. I feel like I am losing great students who are having their class schedule micro managed by academy leaders who want their program to flourish with the best. So far, we ...

I would like to use a flash pot. I would like to know how safe they are. I'm sure my school would not allow it if they thought it could be a safety hazard. Also, will the smoke set off a fire alarm? How much do they cost? What is the name of a reliable company. ------------------------------------------- ...
