Hello! We are going to be starting a production of Little Shop in January, but we don't get our Audrey 2 until February. How would you rehearse with your puppeteers when you don't have your puppet? Any advice? Also, how have you gone about casting them? Do you have them try out something? Thanks! ...

I think so much is depended on what you and your community is comfortable with. I teach at a very small, very conservative school in the Midwest. I think you have to get a feel of what they can handle and what they can't. It can also help to do a progression of topics. Don't start with super crazy if ...

I believe it is the off Broadway one is just a rock band pit- guitar, bass, keys, and drums.  The Broadway one is more of a typical full orchestration ------------------------------ Jaclyn Marta Moline IL ------------------------------

Something I always do with students is I meet with them one on one and tell them why they are cast in the role they were. I usually find it helps them be okay with the role they get and helps them understand why they are that role. I would listen to his complaints, recognize them, but emphasize all the ...

I would suggest looking at newplayexchange. I made an account for my drama club and it has a big list.  As for a playwright, I would suggest Mark Harvey Levine. ------------------------------ Jaclyn Marta Moline IL ------------------------------

We did an added ensemble of 4 people. I gave them all like pun names (Constance Norring, Summer Camp, Paige Turner, Penny Lane) and we used that to make them a broad stereotype (sleepy girl, super into friendship bracelets and tie-dye, reader, hippie). I had them all spell twice and made up fun facts ...

We did The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon last year and the kids had a blast with it. It's very goofy and improv based so you can take it a lot of different ways. The cast can be easily expanded/doubled. I believe we ended up with like 23 kids in the show. Plus, there's a lot of different ways to do any ...

I know that Women and War by Jack Hilton Cunningham has a one act. It is all vignettes of different war stories so none cross over. You might be able to have the same boys play the same roles. They also have a ton of monologues, so you can add in more monologues if you need to ------------------------------ ...

We are doing it this year with minimal set. Our plan is a unit set on the stage of walls and doors for the shop. Then a brick wall to the side for the Ronettes. On the floor we are doing the dentist scene on a platform. ------------------------------ Jaclyn Marta Moline IL ----------------- ...

I know the rights are not as cheap as others, but 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee doesn't cost much at all. One unit set that just basically needs things that schools already have and your costumes can basically come out of closets. The only costume we bought was for Chip that was more than $10- ...
