Things we do:  1. sell concessions during all shows possible (including chorus concerts) at the Fine Arts Center here 2. sell program ads and shoutouts (similar to those already mentioned on here) 3. sell break-a-leg-a-grams during pre-show, intermission, and even after the show 4. do a 50/50 raffle ...

Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon and Greek Mythology Olympiaganza are both fun shows to do. I have found that sometimes a good name for a play will draw them in just as much as a popular one.  I'll see if I can come up with other suggestions as well. ------------------------------ Kind Regards, ...

Hello all,  When you have a moment, can anyone out there please share the forms you use for the box office? I'd be interested in seeing what you use for sales and reconciliation throughout the ticket sales process..  Also, do any of you have forms that you use for things like concessions sales?  ...

Dear Esteemed Experts, I need to produce a LOT of fog for a scene and I want it to be a low-lying as possible. I currently have no machine, but would prefer to make one/two from scratch. So...all of that said, a few questions. What do you use to create the fog? Liquid? A made up recipe? If a ...

Do any of you amazing and talented folks happen to know of or have an app and/or a computer program that lets students "clock" in and out? Specifically, I am looking for something that will then give me a report of who was there and when. Right now I am using paper, but I really want to try and go paperless ...

Hello my friends!  I hope everyone is having a good year so far!  I was wondering which apps do you consider your favorites to use in class? These could be apps for phones, tablets, computers, etc... What makes them your favorites?  Just wanted to see what everyone is using.  --------- ...

Personally, I definitely prefer this method. I like it because while I have the final say (and everyone understands that), people sometimes see things that I miss. I usually just have everyone stationed in different places in the room or auditorium, which is, in my opinion, less intimidating. Each ...

This does sound like a puzzle. The main play that immediately came to mind was The Diary of Anne Frank. Have you considered having them write a play that is relevant to them? This would be a great way to teach them about current events and the entire playwrighting experience. Alternately, you may want ...

i don't think anyone else holds the rights to the show except them. My suggestion may be to contact Frank Wildhorn directly (or through his "people,") He may allow you to make changes, since he is ultimately who holds the rights, right? Just a suggestion. ------------------------------ Kind Regards, ...

Hello,  It sounds like your have a great strategy in place. I didn't go this far, but in order to get my students more interested in theatre, I made it more than just theatre and set about showing how theatre played into several different styles like television and the movies. I also had them look ...

Does anyone out there know of a place to set up and sell merchandise for shows. In other words, a place that will let your patrons go online and select items like bags, t-shirts, mugs, pens, etc...with your show or department logo on them? I'm thinking this could be a good fundraiser, but...??? What ...

I saw a production of a show called The Lost Boy recently and they had flying in it. they used people dressed in those full-bodied morph suits and to be honest they way they worked them into the scene, I really barely noticed the people in the suits...I thought it was really effective. I don't know if ...

This is a neat idea. Have you given any thoughts to seeking out someone with a 3-d printer? Or does that defeat the purpose?  Just wondering.  Kind Regards,  Jared ------------------------------ Jared Wright Thomaston GA ------------------------------

I do not know off the top of my head anyone who may have costumes, but honestly this is one of those shows where you could incorporate the whole "found" objects concept and let the kids (and parents) be really creative. Also, I would imagine that you'd have a blast utilizing black lights, neon things, ...

I second both All Shook Up and Godspell.  What about Peter Pan, The King and I, or Once on this Island? I'm doing Mamma Mia this year. There isn't really anything too offensive in it unless you just don't like ABBA.  Jared ------------------------------ Jared Wright Thomaston GA ----- ...

If I remember correctly from my college years, there were a lot of people running up against the Shulz family and the Peanuts property in that they were trying to do the show for free or adapting in part or whole the material into scenes and shows. I do not know of any specific example except that one ...

I am looking to change our process and maybe put everything in writing so that I can back it up better. In doing so, I was just wondering what you charge for people to see plays and musicals at your schools. Do you charge different prices for One Acts than full plays? What discounts do you offer? What ...
