We were one of the first high schools to do this play when they made the rights available, in fall 2018. The script was fresh off the presses then, and it seemed likely that there would be rewrites, as the version we did was already substantially different from the version at the Bucks County Playhouse ...

Hi all, Is anyone else running across this issue? We were given permission to put on a socially-distant musical. Our school is split into two cohorts, meaning I only see the students every other day, and the cast will not get together until the very end of the process. This creates very long rehearsals ...

Hi Rebecca, We did that ending as well, it's far more effective than the "happy" ending. We had our actress stand on a chair, put the noose around her neck (it was very lightly attached, it could not have hurt her), and then we blacked out that side of the stage and cut the music abruptly. The audience ...

Hi all, Not sure if anyone has any suggestions for this, but - awhile back a careless student got some white paint on our rear stage black curtain. Luckily it's mostly in the wings, but it looks messy and is occasionally visible. We've tried using water, turpentine, and mineral spirits, but the paint ...

Hi all, I'm the Theatre Director at Rye Neck High School in Mamaroneck, New York, and we've just lost our set designer for our production of Legally Blonde, which runs March 2-4. It's a big production, but what we need isn't even so much a designer as a set builder, as we have the designs already. ...

Hi folks, Has anyone produced "And Then There Were None" with the Original 1939 Ending that Samuel French now offers? It features a very dark ending, with one of the lead characters hanging themselves. It's powerful and effective, but as of right now I'm still not sure how I'm going to do ...

Hey folks, I've seen a few posts on here for those seeking summertime MA programs in Theatre. But I'm looking for summer workshops that offer graduate Theatre credit as a non-degree seeker. Any suggestions for either weekend workshops, online courses, or short-term summer courses that offer graduate ...

Following up on Elizabeth's question, I would also like to replace the flooring of our stage sometime in the next year. It was professionally done at some point before I was hired (I'm in my third year now), but the black material has bubbled up in places, and is quite worn in general. How do I go about ...

Like Christa said above, I'm also currently in rehearsals on this play, and we're also doing one long table, with some jurors having their backs to the audience. Every theatrical instinct I have is screaming at me to have them turn around, but the truth is, it's more realistic this way, and as long as ...

I'd love to produce this show, but can't see my administration giving the go-ahead to the "Totally F***cked" number. Does anyone know if there's a school edition of this show? I'm very anti-censorship, but I don't see a way to stage it at my school without toning down some of the harsher language. ...

We did Charles Morey's Laughing Stock this year for our first fall play (the school had just done musicals prior to this year) and it was a huge hit! Hilariously funny, 13 roles (some larger than others, but all very well featured), and a real love letter to theatre itself. Highly recommended! -- ...

Hello everyone! We've just completed our successful production of The Music Man and we have a few beautiful set pieces we'd like to rent out. (They're just too lovely to scrap!) They include: Wells Fargo Wagon Footbridge Library Podium I tried to attach photos to this message, but was ...

Hi folks, Hoping someone knows the answer to this. I've worked in many theaters where I see these little LED lights in pliable tubing backstage - they're good for helping actors see the way to go when they come offstage into darkness. Usually they're attached to the walls or lining the floors. They're ...
