Hi all,Any thoughts concerning producing West Side Story? I am fully aware that MTI states that casting the show should be sensitive to diversity. Can/should this show still be produced in venues where the student population is less diverse? The piece is a great teaching tool for understanding through ...

We wrapped up "The Crucible" in late February with wonderful audience response, intense language and all. I did the the show with relative "newbies" and they were magnificent. It's a very intense experience and a lot of of hard work, but worth every minute. Those kids were so proud of their accomplishment, ...

Hello, I have had the same question myself, from time to time, but, whether it is a "true" honor does not matter! It is an extremely wonderful opportunity for our students to perform in this international venue with like minded students. We've gone two time in four years, and yes, it was an exhausting ...

Has anyone been, or presently involved in the Cappie program? I've been approached to come on board to the program in my area. This is something new to us here. I've seen other regions in the country participate, and am curious for feedback, good, bad, or indifferent!Robert J. PutkaStow-Munroe Falls ...

We did it as our piece at the American High School Theatre Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2013 and was well received. I found it to be remarkably flexible for casting, assigning the roles randomly with both boys and girls. We had a cast of 10. It is simple to stage, and very easy to travel. The only ...

Try "Almost Maine", a charming, offbeat series of short one act plays, all taking place in the fictional town of the same name. I had seniors direct each piece, with great audience response. Short and easy for students to handle. You may also try any of the David Ives' one act plays. Again, great response ...

We went to the Fringe last August, and it was an awesome experience! Well worth the hard work to raise funds to go. We were able to defray each student's cost to attend by about 1,700.00 each through group fundraising, making it a bit more accessible. I did find some resistance from students, but certainly ...
