Hi! I teach at the same type of independent school with the same kinds of focus. Fortunately for us, our show closed March 7th - just under the wire. I feel so badly for you all caught in this situation. If your show was owned by Concord Theatricals - they are begrudgingly offering other schools (including ...

My coworker is using a raised (think 60 inches) platform for a middle school play. Where does she find regulations for schools about safety rails for with height? She checked OSHA and several other regulators and found nothing. In our professional experience the only reg. we have heard of is for professional ...

There are also numerous small musicals which come with pre-recorded accompaniment if a small ensemble is hard for you to come by available from MTI. ...

I have directed 40 shows at an all girls school: Radium Girls was a fantastic experience. I highly recommend it. Other great shows with minimal (3) to 0 males or easily genderbent roles are: Trojan Women, A Murder is Announced, Meet Me in St. Louis, Cinderella. A Piece of my Heart, Secret Garden, Little ...

As a private girls school theater teacher for the last 18 years, I feel your pain. A short list of some of the shows I have done, lots of girls, few boys and "appropriate" for a K-12 school: House of Bernarda Alba, Little Women, Seussical, Pride and Prejudice, East of the Sun West of the Moon, ...

My Thespian officers upon hearing of your plight began collecting plays and texts on the first day of school, not only from ...

For this generation of parents who have filmed everything from the actual birth of their child onward, this is a very difficult lesson. I forbid it completely and entirely for every show. I do not even check if there are concessions by particular publishers because as soon as you open the door, you are ...

I used the Nicholas Rudall translation for a joint production with my high school girls and professional men. the Rudall is very performable, and yet retains the rhythms and poetry without clunkiness. It was recommended by the chair of the classics department at a university and so I was skeptical that ...
