I did a 40 minute cut for festival three years ago and we LOVED IT. Yes, there are definitely more men than women which is frustrating. We doubled all of the men parts, and some of the women parts. Did most of our changes on stage in front of the audience so that the audience could see the shift in characters. ...

A different drummer (I don’t have the author in front of me) is a bit dated but my kids LOVE it. It’s about different social stigmas in teens. All standalone scenes so it works with any cast size. I think the larges scene is 8. But most scenes are like 2-4. Juniper Wallace -- Rankin County ...

Kristi Jacobs-Stanley, what is your MFA in? I’ve been told that an MFA is a terminal degree and therefore, as far as our state is concerned, MFA acts like a PhD. --------------------------------- Juniper Wallace Theatre Director Brandon MS ---------------------------------

Hello all, I am currently in rehearsals for Once on this Island and need some advice. If you have produced this musical, or have seen it produced, what did you do for the car? I know the solution varies greatly, but I’d love to hear what different groups have done and what worked and didn’t work. ...

The one act version is 35 pages which translates to a minimum of 55 minutes (if you're speeding through it). The family will not allow any further cuts to the script, unfortunately. I was hoping we could make it work, but it won't. Our first read through was well over our 45 minute time limit. It's terribly ...

Did you not have a submit "proof of permission to cut"? Our state requires proof of permission. And doing that would essentially be breaking the rules. This is terrible and sad. ------------------------------ Juniper Wallace Theatre Director Brandon MS ------------------------------

I just re-read your post and saw that you had a 40 minute time limit. Did you end up producing the show for competition? ------------------------------ Juniper Wallace Theatre Director Brandon MS ------------------------------

Thank you! So, what did you do? What was the time limit on your one-act competition? Our read through (without staging) was well over 50 minutes. Even the publishing company rep said it ran about an hour. Did you contact the family directly? ------------------------------ Juniper Wallace Theatre ...

I directed the RENT School Edition with a youth community theatre (we were the first in Mississippi to produce it) and it was an incredible experience. We even took a cutting to our state community theatre festival and won and competed at SETC...The judges even commented that they were laughing before ...

Hi Susan!! I am actually currently doing Radium Girls competition version. DW Gregory has written a 60 minute version with an option to cut for 40 minutes (which is what we are doing). We will be performing on Friday, June 23rd at the Howell Theatre at ThesFest for the Chapter Select Showcase.  ...

Hello all, My state, Mississippi, is in the process of adopting the National Core Arts Standards as well as creating specific classes within that curriculum to give theatre educators freedom to create performance and technical based classes. This is an awesome opportunity for us as a state, so I would ...
