Just adding my two cents here ... do not forget the rope! Wrap it around the mast several times at various heights on the mast. Also there should be some ropes coming from the "top" or the mast to the side of the ship. In my production of "The Tempest" a few years ago, I wanted to see the ship in ...

When they come to the last word of each line or sentence I tell them to kick the box, HARD. (making sure that nobody is in the direct line of fire) This makes the actor tense up enough so ...

Hello! If you have a little time to wait, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival is in the process of reworking/adapting and modernizing all of the Shakespeare works. They have hired many playwrights and dramaturge artists for this project. I do not know the exact publication date but it is very soon. Warren ...

I have found several members of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival company willing to share or for a small rental fee use their music from various plays in the cannon. I do know that Todd Barton, composer emeritus of the festival, does make his scores available for a small fee and offers them on his website. ...

Hello all! We are in the beginning stages of premiering a new version of "Twelfth Night" and will open it on 4 November 2016. The script has been cut for time constraints and reduced to 13/14 actors. There is a twist to the concept that I found irresistible: Zombies. I will report to you folks as ...

Hello all! I am looking for a play that can be done simply (tech wise) for a summer scholarship fundraising show. "Almost Maine" was my first choice, but it was recently done in the community. The actors will be coming from an 'alumni and parent booster club', with the tech and backstage help ...

The "Our Town" I directed was based on the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's production in their outdoor theatre. The only changes in the setting were: a rented 'back of a theatre stage' painted drop and the church choir practice was performed in the shallow orchestra pit we have. Instead of having the show ...

I am trying to find a reasonable way for absent students to "make up" a performance. When there is no way to bring in another audience, and not being able to create the exact circumstances of having a missing actor for them to learn from the experience, it becomes punitive and not something that I want ...

Hello! We just installed 10 instruments for our 40' x 25' cyclorama. They are ETC Lustr+ with the Source 4 LED CYC attachments on each one. They are amazingly bright when you need them and as long as you have the light board to handle all of the channels/universes you will be well served. ...
