To answer your question, all of the groups that sponsored the original webinar you posted are quality organizations.  To be sure, the contents are troublesome, but the sources themselves - not saying the information is 100% at this time, but these are what I would consider trusted resources. ---- ...

This is amazing!   I would love to have my students experience this, but my district will not allow our students to use Zoom.  :-( Will these be recorded?   I sent an email with the same question and then realized I should have posted here.  Sorry for the double! ------------------------------ ...

Hi Marti! Yep - concluding 30 years in the classroom this year.  I echo Dana's comments - especially not having to get up at 5-anything ever again!   I have loved my time in the classroom, but am looking forward to new creative challenges. I'm excited about having some flexibility to try new things. ...

I would forward the response from your Administration to MTI.  If you signed the contract, I would seek legal counsel as to your personal vulnerability/liability. Hopefully, it won't come to that but, Shrek is a big show with a big corporation behind it that will take violations of their performance ...

It's cut and dried.  You entered into a legal contract with MTI which clearly states you will not change anything, ANYTHING, without permission.  You asked permission and MTI said no, so you cannot change anything without breaking that legal contract.  If you do, you are sending the message to everyone ...

We have battled the same problem and started doing interviews as part of the application process.  Students fill out applications for Student Leadership, Acting and Crews and these include a conflict calendar.  I actually print out a calendar and put all potential workdays and ask students to highlight ...

Hi Elana, I'm curious why it would be bad to be the same class with advanced material and higher expectations.  To me, that's what the study of any art form is...well really any subject.  Especially a subject that builds on prior knowledge in the content area.  My Acting I students do a simple short ...

Hi Josh, I've done Our Town a few times.  Twice as a mainstage and a few times as class study.  I don't think there is anything to be concerned with except...maybe...the fact that Simon drinks, but it's clearly frowned upon so could not be interpreted (well "should" not be) as promoting alcohol.  ...

A new topic has surfaced in our building - opportunities for students to receive micro credentials.  I know there are tons of opportunities for teacher micro credentialing, but haven't come across any for students. So...are there micro credentials available to students in Theatre?  Any help would ...

We have a program of around 60 kiddos and currently I have 7 officers.  I try to be sure to get a mix of grade levels and a good mix of cast/crew/tech folks.  Also, our officers apply and sign a commitment contract,  then are selected by the adult sponsorship team and someone from outside the team so ...

We have a Board of Officers.  We meet monthly to plan meetings and events and each officer is expected to participate.  They rotate hosting, publicity, activities and such for each meeting and chair various committees and events.  I moved to this structure many years ago as the traditional set up leaned ...

I call obligatory blocking simply one of the givens.  When we do analysis we look for any information that the playwright expects (has given) us to communicate and then we talk about how to expand those givens to further the intention of the piece.   The texts Acting for Life (Frakes) and Directing ...

One of the earliest versions was only 20 minutes long and an early recording came in around 30.  That's to say that I'm sure it's possible.  (permission pending of course)  It would be interesting to see that original version to see how the piece grew over the years. ------------------------------ ...

We performed 12 Angry Jurors - what it's called with a mixed gender cast - for competition a few years ago.  Follow the guidelines, be true to the characters and it's a great competition piece. ------------------------------ Amy Learn Ballwin MO ------------------------------

I am just starting my 20th and final year at my current school.  My Technical director is a former student from way back in the day.  We were thinking about re-creating the season from that first year and Macbeth was on it.  The problem current day... low numbers of boys.  In the brainstorming process ...

Hi Jeff! These are all great selections, depending on the program and the community.  Rumors is still one of my all time favorite show memories.  I've done Anything Goes multiple times with different schools to great success, but not recently.  I did Little Shop when I first took over my current position ...

Greetings! I took the survey and would like to suggest a place for comments or an option of "other".  For example: I have been using and training in my Improvisation for over 30 years, but my type(s) of training didn't fit into any of your options. Maybe you don't need that info, but just suggesting..... ...
