Sally, I worked in the UK for many years teaching, and I used Frantic Assembly and physical theatre as a way in with kids who might otherwise avoid performance at the beginning of a semester. It's a great way to break down barriers and create interesting, artistic work that can be built on with more ...

Thank you so much for your thoughtful response. I am 100% with you. I was hoping as other schools will have had similar challenges, there may already have been a written policy that I could use as a template. I think when a department and school feel confident about why we feel work is important, ...

Hi, friends-  Does anyone have an example of their Performing Arts Department Policy in regards to performance choices and content that they'd be willing to share? As we're currently in the holiday season, we grapple with choices about which music to include in music programs; in the current political ...

Hi all-  I'm directing Macbeth for the fall play next year, and wonder if any of you have a great cut of the script? I'm hoping for a 70- 90 minute version.  If anyone needs a 30 minute for their lower school, I have a copy I can share.  Thanks! ------------------------------ Nicole Tremblay ...

The University of Birmingham in the UK offers distance learning. I completed my MA in Performing Arts Ed at LIPA, and I really love the approach to process and theory. The cost is comparable to any other PhD program. I've put links below to Birmingham, NYU and a general 'PhD Theatre programs in the US'. ...

Hi Kathleen  I am confident that we offer a great program, and would love to offer any help or advice if you're interested. I know we're a private school, but I came to PT last year with 16 years experience in the public sector creating curricula for very large schools with 6th -12th grade programs, ...

My school has a no-cut policy, and we tend to have 40-60 in a cast. I've been asked to consider a gender-blind 1776. I'm fine with gender-blind, but concerned about the cast size. Has anyone done this show with a large chorus, and if so...how?!  Thanks! ------------------------------ Nicole Tremblay ...

DNA, by Dennis Kelly is a brilliant play. It can be gender neutral, and states so in the playwright's notes. It's fantastic onstage and for classroom workshops.  Good luck! ------------------------------ Nicole Tremblay Director of Theater Indianapolis IN ------------------------------

Hi David,  I'm directing this play in the Autumn, as well. I can't wait- I've wanted to direct it for some time now. I've not created any cross-curricular resources yet; however, our entire upper school faculty and students are reading Radioactive by Lauren Redniss. Each curriculum area are planning ...
