When I directed PIPPIN, I borrowed the Chip cart from BEAUTY AND THE BEAST to use for this scene. We had lots of dismembered arms and legs and "bodies" lying around, and Pippin pushed the cart through the battlefield collecting weapons and body parts. The head was in the pile on the cart, and the actor ...

Thanks for the lead. I am doing the original though, so I will have to see if they will release it for the other version. ------------------------------ Floyd Nash [Theatre teacher] Deerfield Beach High Deerfield Beach, FL ------------------------------

Good morning, does anyone have a source for the sound effects for DIARY OF ANNE FRANK? I am directing it in early March and wondered if there were somewhere to rent or purchase a package deal. Any help is welcomed. Thanks.Floyd NashDeerfield Beach HighDeerfield Beach FL Sent from my Sprint Phone.

My recommendation is pick another "classic". How about "7 Brides for 7 Brothers" which will allow you to  showcase your strong actors and actresses without worrying about problems of color blind casting. Even if you cast a multi racial mix of brothers, an educational theatre audience will accept that ...

I teach in Broward County Florida, and I just cannot justify doing a school shooting play since many of my students are either related to or friends with the victims and students at Stoneman Douglas. But you have the advantage of geographical distance. Have you considered having your students research ...

I always buy tan or nude, and then shoe color spray the ones I use on ladies of darker complexions to match their skin tones better. Especially in a musical,  you want to make their legs look longer and you dont want to draw attention to their feet, especially if you have some untrained dancers. Just ...

It looks to me like this:  The finished cake is a hollow casing that fits inside the lid. When the lid is put down on the raw cake, a latch in the handle releases the shell to sit down on top of the raw cake. Check to see if you could do a cutting of THE LARAMIE PROJECT.  I did the full show with a cast of 20 with excellent response. ------------------------------ Floyd Nash [Theatre teacher] Deerfield Beach High Deerfield Beach, FL ------------------------------

I directed a production of LUCKY STIFF in 2005, and used the 6 leads and an ensemble of 12 for the smaller roles. It worked great! What a fun show. SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY is an oldie but goodie that is all monologues. You can double up on the casting if necessary for your class and give students experience in voice acting. Show was originally meant to be a small cast.  And THE LARAMIE PROJECT which deals with the Matthew Shepard story and hate crime ...

Try any of the madcap comedies of the 1930s and 40s. YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU, ARSENIC AND OLD LACE, THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER, are all big cast shows. They also give your kids a great history lesson as well. ------------------------------ Floyd Nash Pompano Beach FL

I haven't directed ASSASSINS, but I have seen 2 productions. In my opinion, the R rating comes from a combination of subject matter and language. It is about all of the Presidental assassinations and attempts, and is very dark in style. I wouldn't attempt it at most high schools, because I can see major ...

I directed a production of EARNEST several years ago and moved the time period up to 1914. This allowed for a slenderer ladies skirt silhouette which helped with space on stage, and didnt hurt the intent of the play because it placed it at the very end of the Edwardian era instead of the end of the Victorian ...

Amy, I have the Shepherd and Shepherdess lamps and will be happy to sell them for what I paid for them ($40.00 plus shipping) if you are interested. When is your production? Email me at floyd.nash@browardschools.com. However, I am going to be out of town from the 13th to the 18th for IB training, so ...

Hi Jerry... There is a musical called MOBY DICK THE MUSICAL which has the premise of being a production of Moby Dick as staged by an all girls school. It is quite funny. Or perhaps LITTLE WOMEN? ------------------------------ Floyd Nash Pompano Beach FL ------------------------------ ...
