I did Medea last year and it was fantastic really strong story and you can shrink or expand your chorus of ladies as you need. So many cool things you could do with it. We took it to competition and placed third in the state.  Cheers, -Riley  ------------------------------ W. Riley Braem, ...

I'm interested in this show as well. I haven't read the scripts but I saw that there was a high school version. Does anyone know the differences between the two versions?  Cheers, -Riley ------------------------------ W. Riley Braem, M.F.A. Director of Theatre Theatre Teacher Northwest High ...

I teach Dual Enrollment Theatre. I think that the AP system is just a money making scam. I always suggest to my students to take dual enrollment classes because if they pass the class they get the credit. There is no crazy test to take. However, in order to teach dual enrollment you have to have at least ...

I am in the market for wireless headset mics and wanted to get everyone's opinion on a brand. Does anyone have any experience with vocopro wireless mics? Is there another brand that you'd suggest? I'm also in the market for a new sound board (looking for 10-12 channels) for our second space. Any suggestions?  ...

Caroline, As many have said, it depends greatly on your state. Here is what I experienced in Tennessee: I have a dual BS in Theatre Performance & Threatre Design and went on to earn an MFA in Theatre for Young Audiences (without certification) from Arizona State University. I elected not to opt ...

All: i know im late to the party but I'd really be interested in a PhD/EdD program in Educational Theatre that I could do online and that would give credit for experience. I have an MFA in Theayre for Youth from Arizona State and an MAT from Austin Peay State University.  I think that there must ...

I did Grease this school year and went into it knowing it was a very exspensive show to produce. I have to say that I had a completely different experience and could not have had a better one. Rosemary was a rock star helping me out when one of my leads came down sick and I had to change my show dates. ...

I have an MFA in Theatre for Youth from Arizona State University. While it is a terminal degree, most school systems do not recognize it as anything more than a Masters for pay purposes. It's insulting and infuriating.  Arizona State also has a PhD in theatre for youth but it is not a distance program. ...

I second reaching out to your local college/university. If you have a local community or regional theatre, they may also be a good resource. There are a lot of companies that offer a sample of the plays online that will give you a good idea of its content.  I also have my advanced students propose ...

1) How many classes do you teach (what is a full time load)?  I teach 6 periods a day. However, 5 of my 6 classes are layered so I really teach 11 classes a day.  2) Do you receive stipends for directing shows (what is that based on (hours, number of students)? Yes. I have no Earthly idea how ...

I do this with my students. I have an MFA in Theatre for Young Audiences so it was a goal of mine to incorporate into my curriculum. Are the resources you are looking for more along the lines of devising original work? I just adapted an exsisting production unit to focus on TYA. I'd be happy to help ...

Does anyone know of a grant or publishing companies that work with schools that want to purchase a class set of a script? I would really like to have 2-3 plays that I can use in my classes. The problem is that I need 35 copies of each script. That would be a huge cost. My students don't have the money ...

i started performing when I was maybe 8. My school didn't have a theatre program so I was in band and choir. My family moved to a small town in Kentucky when I was in middle school (again no theatre) but they had a community theatre. It wasn't until I was in high school that I auditioned for my first ...
